The ISP router is a BT Smart Hub and the spare router is a Netgear R6300
If it is possible, I would hope to use the Netgear 6300 only for the satellite receiver and leave the BT Smart Hub with its factory configuration.
Ive liitle knowledge on the BT stuff i dont think it can run in Modem mode it is always going to be a modem router.

Your 6300 could possibly run in access point mode connected to your hub and with the openwrt firmware installed on it posted by @gap30 will become a very handy VPN router.

Anyway, this is taking the thread well off topic.

No need for the smart hub if he flashed the netgear with openwrt that would replace his smart hub so using openvpn or wireguard at his incoming connection (plus adblocker is built in to openwrt)

Can anyone confirm that the IM is not visible on the viark DRS2, i have seen a screen shot off it on this thread but from what i can make out that is after a SP1 upgrade.
When i enter my SN number and press query it says i can use SP1/SP2 but cant find IM on my viark DRS2 anywhere.

Its not visible on the Viark, if the query says you can use sp1/2 then you can.

This to me is for boxes activated from new within the last 6 months, following that guide youll would not need to purchase SP1 or 2 just convert it.

@cokeaddict just pointed out to me. If you renewed within last 6 months you could also use this method. But anyone with boxes that came with 3 years would not of needed to renew yet.

I just tried the link with my Droi due to be renewed in March. The link works ok & yes because of my expiry date rejected my claim.
So just renewed with SP1 & all working ok.

But what happens if you buy a box now? Will the new server be already included?
From what I've read you would need to follow the instructions once you have the boxes firmware updated but this would reduce your sub by 1 year
