Thinking to purchase the 752HD.
In the web page mentioned above I found many firmware for all AB Cryptobox receivers. Are they "alternatives" firmware? I mean cccam or similar?
Also, what about autobiss? Is it there? Thanks.

Just jumped in it, purchased the 752HD.
Reading this thread I learned that mcas would be the official firmware, latest of which is dated 2024.
What is the newer patch? And what about autobiss?
Anyone could help please? Thanks.

Hello @JAKITAKI ,

My AB Cryptobox 752 is stuck at the boot stage and will not go any further.

No matter how many times I switch it on and off, the front panel just keeps on
displaying "BOOT".

Is there a way I can fix this issue? Maybe pressing a combination of keys whilst
turning it on OR getting an original firmware version on a USB stick and factory
resetting from the stick?

Just out of interest the software I loaded on the box almost three years ago is a
patch dated from 2021 called "752HD_V1.14.23058_12-08-2021.bin"

Any help would be greatly appreciated...(y)

I'm not sure about that bit TBH, but I am just about to buy the USB to serial (female) cable from the rainforest site to try and recover this
box. I can't see any other way around this.

Very frustrating, as when the box works it's great. Very good picture quality, ability to do BISS, PowerVU keys etc, c lines etc with the
right patch software.

The chipset is a ALI M3529, which I don't think is FS capable, but not sure.

If its the wrong cable it won't connect, we use to have to use null modem cables when we use to load patches onto technomates. Also note the USB to serial leads can be a pain in the arse to get to work.

I suggest to purchase such USB to serial cable having FTDI chipset. Easy to find one online.
It is a more robust chipset compared to others, never got any problem with that.
However, could you please advice which tool must be used to upload via serial port?
I'm reading and learning many details in these days, I want to be ready when my new box will be delivered next week. Thanks.

Shoot!

I already made the order and it is arriving today.

Look, best I can do is try it and if it doesn't work then simply return it for a refund.

But...what you guys are saying is I need to buy a null modem FTDI capable usb to serial cable to be sure I
can connect my PC/laptop to the RS232 port on the back of the box.

Oh, BTW, the RS232 port on the back is a 9 pin male connection, which is why I ordered a female serial 9 pin connection.

Try to boot it from USB.

Rename the software to ali_update.bin
Copy ali_update.bin to the USB drive.
Turn off the receiver from the power supply.
Insert the USB drive into the receiver.
Turn on the power.
When the word "boot" appears, hold down the middle button on the front panel until you see the software update progress on the TV screen.
Release the button.
After the operation is completed, the tuner will restart, and we restore the factory settings.

This is the procedure I used to recover my Viark Sat 4K receiver when it was stuck on the boot position, and it perfectly worked.
So, try. If it fails, the RS232 connection would be the next step.

Thanks @JAKITAKI,

What format should the USB stick be set to...NTFS, FAT32, etc?

Hi @JAKITAKI, @manic01, @kegnkiwi, @Francescone

Thank you all for your suggestions, advice, information and help with the issue of the 752HD combo stuck at "BOOT".

I am pleased to report that the RS232 cable firmware upgrade worked and restored the box after about 20 minutes of
work.

The box has been successfully restored.

However, even though I tried the usb stick method with the firmware renamed to ali_update.bin, the box still remained
locked in "BOOT".

The steps I followed were as follows...

1. Turned the box off.
2. Purchased, installed a USB to serial rs232 cable from my laptop to the rs232 port on the box.
3. Downloaded ALIUP program used to communicate with box.
4. Started ALIUP program and selected free "COM" port on my laptop that was connected to the RS232 of the box.
5. Select latest MCAS firmware downloaded from website and selected "OPEN" on the ALIUP screen.
6. Turned the box on.
7. Check that "COM" port communication working and then press "START".
8. It then takes about 15 to 20 minutes for the upload process to work.
9. Once completed the box will go to the main screen, and at this point I also did a factory reset.
10. ....Now I am running the box normally again.

This forum and the help provided is the best anywhere on the net. I donate a lot, but as far as I am concerned the
help I have received over the years has been well worth the contribution.

Special thanks to @manic01 and "Dziękuję bardzo" to @JAKITAKI .

@kippysat glad you are sorted, when you tried the "Rename the software to ali_update.bin" You did just change the name of the file to ali_update and not inc .bin in title?
