heres a lock i had on espn/foxsports last summer on my mabo 1.8m while i was experimenting on a fine warm summers day.it came dropping and going up,as in one minute it was over 10db next it was not locking.so not sure it was done with a very old chaparal lnb which i had to wire to select H and V polarity via a servo switch.and yes that frequencey is circular using a homemade plate from a white plastic chopping board.

If signal wasn't consistent for over 1 minute. Then sounds like 4 or 5g interference. Need a 4g filter

yes you could be right @manikm theres a phone tower about 2 miles or less as the crow flies.
will have to experiment again and get proper results to verify if indeed its 4g 5g inteference.
would a 5g c band lnb also eliminate 4g interference or does it just vanish 5g interfernce and not 4g interference ?.

Frequency of 3980 is getting quite a bit away from any 5G frequencies unless they are creeping up the spectrum band in IRE/UK.
Just get a bigger dish and stop messing about with a 1.8m

You guys have 5g interference overseas? That's interesting. It's bad in this part of the world. Less than 3840 is forget about it. 3840-3980 will be soon. Most feeds here have moved above 4000 including most sports feeds. Only 40.5 and 47.5 have not and probably will not. Tennis on 58 as well.

I have eight 2.4m two 3m and two 4.2m dishes at my place. For cband had to install 5g LNB and also 5g band pass filters.

I have the red lnbfs. Blue ones probably by football season. Those 5g filters for lnb's do not work very well.

5g filters only go down to 3600 not too many issues with signals in the 3600 - 4000 range. As you can see many Asisat5 100e feeds posted are in that range.
Some AS5 freqs just have low uplink power from source.

Shame this thread ended . Could have been useful to compare signal levels

Signal levels are only comparable between dish sizes if the dishes are under the same footprint reception area of the beam.
On a global forum like this, comparisons could be invalid due to differing geo locations of the dx men?

I think the 2.0m of this topic has been cast aside now, Butchy is on the sniff trail of a bigger wan.

Looking at the pictures he had t'other day I think he might have found a 3.0m or 3.7m Precision dish but would need to see the back of the dish to confirm if it was a Precision or not.
It looks like it has the three pressed indents for the feed arms on the dish face and judging by their position on the face from the rim edge of the dish it is a reet big dish if Precision.

Surprised nobody caught it or perhaps I missed something. No provision for declination offset?
Someone mentioned trashing the actuator and replacing with a heavy duty supercrap.
Let me tell you one thing for sure. There is no such thing. Especially if your intention is to feed hunt and move the dish a lot.
Venture, Von Weise. Spend once, enjoy trouble free for a long time.
A pressure washer and alkaline cleaner mix. Then bleach. It will get it clean. A bit of scrubbing.
The size of the dish won't pull in c band well if at all. Prime focus strut mount for feeds are ok. But no "wiggle room" for focus, scalar tweaking.
Perhaps from factory. Or garage as many of these type of dishes were made in. The feed is in the right spot. Definitely a little thought for building in some adjustment would be a good thing if another feed assy. were installed.

hey guys do you know much about the prolin 2.4m offset dish, might have come across one here in Ireland the owner has to get back to me as it's in a storage warehouse for yrs,but he's not sure if it's a proline 2.4 offset or if it's a cm 2.4 offset.
I'm sure it's probably a proline or prodelin as no such thing as prolin.

Prodelin have a few variants of the 2.4m dish such as Rx only or Rx/Tx.

'ere are a couple of pictures below of a Prodelin 1244 model, it is four piece Rx/Tx reflector and a good make.
They are as good as the Channel Master dishes and are used by broadcasters. They are also similar in that they have a ribbed back structure for parabolic profile reinforcement.

Ask the owner how many pieces it comes in and if it has a label on the back giving the model number.
If you can get that info you will be a lot nearer to identifying it.

Lastly, you need to find out what feed assembly comes with it, the feed assembly will play a part in what type(s) of LNB(F) you can use on the dish.
Ideally you want to get pictures of it and all the accessories or go and see it.

These are mens dishes, they aint for puppy boys !

The feed assembly that often comes with these Prodelins consists of a cone head that is attached to an orthomode that accepts a pair of WR75 flange LNB's.
The cone head can be separated from the orthomode and with a little bit of drilling it can me modified to allow a single/double/quad C120 flange LNB to be bolted onto it.

You definitely need to find out the details of the feed assembly.

thanks a lot @moonbase truly appreciate your help, advice and all round great knowledge.
he told me this morning as far as he can remember its a one piece dish,he said its been in storage yrs and is in a warehouse miles away from him.
told me to ring back on tuesday as this monday is a bank holiy here in wet ireland.

hes not even sure if its a cm 2.4m or a prolin 2.4m as he calls it,cause its yrs since he seen it due to it been stored away and forgotten about.
but at the end of the day it all depends how much hes looking for it,as really over here no one else would be interested in it or have the accuired garden for one.
we shall see what happens,he could also be full of muck..........................

Not sure if Prodelin or CM 2.4m one piece dishes never existed.
It would be so difficult to move such dishes.
My CM 2.4m offset dish is a RX-only one and is made by 2 pieces.
