What happens if I change the Image

Hi mate
You'll need to put on a Group image when you first receive your VU i recommend Dream Elite or the VTI image once you have set that up and scanned in all the sats you could then make a backup of those setting for use if you try another image.
So no if you change image your channels setting will transfer over to the new one.
Most of us us mulitboot anyway so we have a image in the flash then with either meo boot or Barry allen you can install another image to usb. You will from time to time have to change the image in the flash though.

you should be able to install CCcam direct from the Dreamelite server or you can use DCC to transfer it from your old image to your new one allways remember old saying with boxs are.....................

On the Dream Elite image press the green button then the yellow button for the addons server. Youll find more than just Cams to download :thum:

Hi mate,
As always very helpful, I'll do that when I get back home. About the channels editing in the DreamELite... how do we do that? I mean deleting, moving or renaming etc? I tried last night but didn't find a way to do it. Could anyone please please guide me how I might be able to do that?

Hi mate
Hard to do on the VU+ itself but if you want to edit just a few, bring up the channel list and highlight a channel you want to edit then press the menu button and you'll see all the editing options.
If you doing this on a lot of channel it would be better done on your PC with a PC based channel editor such as DreanBoxEdit or Dreamset which is my personal favorite.

Previously I used TM and it was very easy on that. There was a seperate button on the remote for changing the satellite I dont see any on this remote.

Have you got your motor and a channel list setup? If so press the channels button then the green button to bring up the list of sats.
If you have not setup the motor with the VU then changing the sat position can be different depending on the dish and motor setup you have.

I have a 90CM motorised dish. I am ble to get good signals from Thor to Astra 28.2. I had set-up on the TM which was easy. I can do it I am sure, your advice would help once I do the sat set-up. On the DreamBoxEdit I can connect to the box but cannot get the channel list because of the username and password it is set by default for the DB. I tried to delete that in which case the DreamBoxELite would not allow me to go further. Could you please please help me what to write there. Sorry for being a nuissance as I am learning myself here and your guidance in helping me a lot. I have already installed the CCCam and some skins following your guidance.

Hi mate
The pass for the VU is blank so user would be root and leave pass blank and connect.
So programs wont connect to a receiver with a blank pass not sure about DBE but it will work on the VU.
Is you motor a usuals motor mate then i can advice on how to set that up on the VU.

I was able to connect to the VU+ with the method you mentioned by now I am getting the following message in the FTP Log:

Dreambox response: Login successful.
** Retrieving file list of "/var/tuxbox/config/enigma/" **
Starting FTP transfer
Transfer complete
** Retrieving file list of "/var/tuxbox/config/enigma/" **

Neither a "services" nor a "lamedb" file was found in directory "%" on the Dreambox. /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/
Check the dream path settings on the option panel to point to the correct Dreambox directories and try again.
Disconnecting.

Any advice would be a great help?

Just to update you, I have lost all my satellites. I tried to get them back using the TM but the settings were changed in the motor controller (TM box) so I had to do manual search for the satelites once again and in the process the receiver was hanged several times. I think I might need to change the image to VTi or some other. Also I was not able to do the channels editing despite spending good 2 hours in re-arranging the channels on the computer but when I would send them to the VU it would be the same i.e alphabetic order. I think I need some detailed search and study on the VU until then it wuoldbe a paper weight for me. I would face the problem of manual sat search but the motor controller (TM) is in the downstairs room and the VU in my room upstairs so you could feel my problem.
