Sounds like that shit little box does not suit your requirements? Did you buy it blind or do research on its capabilities first? It's never gonna be as good as the E2 stb's as they are open source with great support but it still does open a hell of a lot. They are cheap boxes, sold at a premium for what they open, the ongoing costs are minimal after that.
Think it's G-MScreen on android, if you sniff the traffic you can get URLs for VLC, at least you could used to. It wasn't the most user friendly from memory. Not sure if that's been removed while they're cracking down on these sorts of boxes being used for restreaming elsewhere.
