So stb is fine after all
I would say box is behaving a bit better. Still issues with audio and my setup but hasn't switched off recently since flashing.

I don't enough as far as motors are concerned and why the box thought it was somewhere else but having checked directly from the dish and motor, everything is fine. Altered the latitude settings on the box and can now pick up the sats.

Anyhow, it's working better than before. Appreciate everyone's input.

Hello everyone, Viark Sat (no 4k) vs GTmedia V8uhd? Which one should I buy?
Thanks
Just buy both of them.

You have lots of helpful information on this thread for your new Viark
and you can also get lots of helpful info for your new GT Media....simples.

It's your choice both do the same thing it's mainly just the UI and the look of the devices that's different.

I would say if you just require it for UK sat then buy as cheap as possible as these premium channels could go at anytime

I don't care about 4k channels
That's good as there aren't many and none on UK sat

@dog-man ..... Great news...(y)
I set two recordings on my Viark Sat 4K for Sunday evening.
One was for 40 mins or so, and the other was for around 3.75 hours (NFL).

Neither recorded. The NFL one vanished from my event timer as if it had been recorded, but it had not.
The other, shorter recording is still showing in my event timer and has not recorded.

So, I don't know what is going on with this receiver. Recording programs is definitely NOT reliable.

Hello @dog-man

I want to help you with this as my Viark sat 4k performed flawlessly over the weekend. I recorded
all the NFL games without incident and some other stuff too.

Are you ok going through some step by step analysis with me to try and resolve this?

I have seen the problem of an event timer recording not having worked and still sitting in the
timer listings even though the date has passed before. It has happened to me as well.
I have resolved it quickly though by trying things.

A simple reboot, switching the box off and back on again helps with this, as well as disconnecting
and then reconnecting your usb drive or usb stick. This sounds obvious, but trust me, sometimes
a reset is required.

After you do that, I would check your recording settings in the USB Menu and PVR SettingsMenu.
Ensure that the recording time is set to at least 600 (hrs), Timeshift set to off.

Then try a manual record if you can and have time please. Simply hit the record button on the
remote and then set the recording time manually to 10 mins to test the recording function works.
If that is ok, then use the event timer to record anything and see what happens.

The Viark does do recording very well. I'm just a a bit puzzled as to why it is a bit of a problem with
your box.

Let us know how you get on...(y)

What you recording to USB stick or Harddrive. Either way try another device to record to.

Never had any issues recording.

Using an admittedly old (therefore rather slow) USB stick, it really slows down the Viark UI scrolling through channels when it's plugged in. Is this still the case with any USB stick/drive plugged in, regardless of inherent write/read speeds?
