Switching from an Ipbox9000 HD

Hi there,

I have had my ipbox9000HD rev2 for just over a year now. This is my first sat box and I was new to the sat world as well (didn't help). I ran DGS based images until about 3 months ago and got really frustruated with them. Switched to the E2 port by Tideglo and loving it. However no support for second tuner and stability issues are really annoying.
Just learnt about the VU+ DUO and with all the posts I have been reading it looks really promising. I am tempted to buy but want to be sure I am doing the right thing. Few questions, appreciate users'opinons on them.
-Are the E2 images available for this box stable?
-Is there good developer support for this box?
-Is the picture quality on SD and HD comparable to ipbox 9000HD?
-Is mgcamd connect to ccam sever working good on it?
-Is it worth switching to this box?

Thanks a lot

1. They are stable
2. New original image every 5-7 working days. There are three groups that are making unofficial images. PLi, HDfreaks (their image is based on pli image) and VTi.
3. Do not know
4. You can use native cccam 2.1.3 or 2.1.4. It works the same as in dreambox. Mgcamd works too.
5. Yes

m8 I will be honest with and the VU+ Duo is a lot better than the ipbox9000.

I have been around a long time and have owned nearly every linux sat receiver there is.

If it was not for tideglo and PKT then my ipbox9000 and 900 would have been on ebay a long time ago.

The VU+duo is stable, the picture quality is as good as anything I have ever seen and better than E2 on ipbox.
CCcam works perfect on VTI image.

I think when you see dealers all over Europe with the sold out sign for this receiver then that says it all, you will no doubt have to put your name on a waiting list for one.

I am already saving for the VU+ solo version so I can replace the ipbox 900 in my bedroom.

I have swapped from a ipbox, and all i can say is you will not regret it. The frustrations i used to have with my ipbox and it's software have vanished.

The picture quality is superb on both sd and hd, and running cccam is far easier than incubus. They are not selling out for no reason

Ive waited 4 week for mine, all i can say is it was worth it, ive never owned a ip box. But i own a DM800 that i now dont know what to do with lol

If another major image group take up the VU+ then Dream have competition.

Very stable on the VTI & PLI image.

Taken from another forum but dreamelite mod said they would support the VU+ (good news if true)

copy below

i got another info that dreamelite will support this if vuplus support them
It depends on vuplus if they are willing to give some free boxes and driver/other information.

I totally understand them. Today nothing is for free.

Btw
I expect this section will be very busy very soon

I think VU should send them the freebies!

Pli VIT & HD freaks are all doing a great Job with the addition of Dream Elite well icing on the cake.

As for this section been busy :thum: You are right there mate

Thanks a lot guys for all the feedback!!, this is very comforting indeed.
I just have 2 last questions before putting my order in :)
-I asssume yes but please confirm we can install images on USB and multiboot.
-On Ipbox9000HD with E2 there is a very annoying pixelisation bug on HD channels with *** encryption, that wouldn't be the case on PLI images for this box?

Thanks a lot

Barry Allen is supported on the VTI image and will boot 8000 images, memory usage is high and they can crash. Im sure this will improve you have to think how new this receiver is.

Hi Palinkat

it´s the Bestseller :thum:

Just to let you know the first page of one shop website in england :)

VERY LIMITED STOCK DUE IN WEDNESDAY 24TH FEBRUARY

Pre-ordering now is highly recommended as they are likely to be sold by the time they arrive! These are becoming almost impossible to obtain at the moment all over Europe! We will not release payment from your credit/debit card until stock is imminent.

This could be the Linux receiver we've all been waiting for! A real contender to the Dreambox DM8000 that (legally) runs the Enigma2 open source firmware. There is the choice of the manufacturers firmware, VTI firmware and PLi firmware (who have committed to supporting this receiver and are releasing a nightly firmware update!)

Thanks a lot guys for all the feedback!!, this is very comforting indeed.

Barry Allen is unstable, high memory usage... I do not recommend it.
Just use flash images.

And you can trust us. We do not talk crap as some people did when Azbox arrived. We all know that when Azbox arrived was really crappy box, totaly unusable.

VU+DUO is totally different. I think that they ironed out all important bugs (except dvb subtitle support for TotalTV channels). Now all they need to do is to add features and tune up drivers.:thum:

I own ipbox 9k and dm8k + 800 ... also vu+ duo

vu+ is much better than ipbox ... sure, but because of firmware, not hardware

even if I support ipbox images on nlb I prefer dm8000 in my living room ... vu+ is a good alternative, but not fully comparable ... anyway, good box, good price ... we´ll love them

thanx to all the teams that are working on vu+ images :thum:

Well, got the box yesterday, slapped on the latest PLI image and if it was not for my own stupidity, the thing good have been up in less than an hour from unpacking the box!
I cannot be more happy with IT!!! It's lightning fast compared to the IPBOX, it's extremely stable, was messing around with it until 1 AM and didn't get the thing to crash.
Installed Mgcamd 1.35, works a treat, swtiching between encrypted channels/providers is super fast!!
Installed Rytec xmltv and finally have Csat and SkyUK epg working at the same time!!!!
Recorded 5 HD streams simultanously without any problem.
Put on the HD glass skin with piconsat, piconprov and metallic picons, looks the business.
Tried the VTI image for a little bit but sticking to PLI, it has so many pluggins and very stable.
Thanks a lot to ALL here who recommended it, it was 450 quids well spent!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi there,

I have had my ipbox9000HD rev2 for just over a year now. .........
The VU+ Duo blows the IPBox 9000 HD out of the water. I sold my IPBox and bought this. Its definitely well worth the money.

I always used E2 on my IPBox. As you know E2 on this receiver was sluggish and prone to crashes. No such problems with the VU+ Duo. It flies through the menus, even whilst under a heavy load.

I managed to record 5 HD channels simultaneously while CCcam decoded them seamlessly via a remote server.

My advice, Get rid of the IPBox and get a VU+ Duo if you can.
