sim 201 ?

How i can see that my dm800 clone have the sim 201 inside ?

Look on the bottom of the box or open it up

alias1 is right the bottum of the 800 should have a sticker stating it is sim2

I came across few clones that have no stickers.

Is there another way of finding out about the SIM type without opening the reciever?
Say a plugin or a telnet command?

Yes. Power down the receiver, then hold power button pushed while powering up, hold the power button pushed down untill you see stop on the display, then release the button. On the LCD display you can read the SIM version.
