Thanks Ferret m8,
I came across few clones that have no stickers.

Is there another way of finding out about the SIM type without opening the reciever?
Say a plugin or a telnet command?

Appreciate your great help.

Yes. Power down the receiver, then hold power button pushed while powering up, hold the power button pushed down untill you see stop on the display, then release the button. On the LCD display you can read the SIM version.
