Recording on Viark Droi 4K

I have just connected a spare drive to my Droi as an experiment to see how good or bad its recording abilities are.

Am I supposed to prepare the drive first? I cannot see any option within the menu system to format or prepare the drive for use on the Droi.
It's a drive that was used on a E2 satellite receiver. I will be running a few test records using the EPG today to see if it works.

Fat32 the drive, with the Droi unplugged insert the usb drive and power on.

That is all you need to do for recording

I finally managed to do a record on timer.
The receiver has to be left on, or it won't record.

Not impressed with the recording facility on the Droi.
I will test the Sat 4K tomorrow if I have time.

The sat 4k can be left in standby the timer wakes it up.
