Why do you need the e2 side out of interest, what benefit over the android os?
I also find the E2 side more familiar as this is what I have been using for many years. Add to that i can easily flip between different images on the E2 side and then boot back into Android for the forever server and my own iptv providers apps which i can install easily.

E2 has been for many year the OS of choice with massive options for encrypting channels via many EMU's Oscam the most common. Couple that with the easy to customise UI with various skins the massive plugin options and massive scene support it is and always will be top dog.

To have E2 , Android with its massive app support and Forever in one box is the pinnacle in my opinion.

The Android side needs some real work on the Dual far to buggy, inability to scan reliably is the big issue for me. Get these bugs ironed out and the box is a winner.

I have noticed in the latest update the speed and fluidity of navigating the menus has improved a lot so thats a good thing from 1.06

Can you use forever on the E2 side or is it just on android?

If you power off on the switch at the rear then press and keep pressed the power button at the front while powering back on at the rear you will see update option on the front screen E2 UP is for E2 the other is for Android. This is a recovery menu of sorts.

Release the front button on the android update and it should then load.
I did the same thing as you described but it doesn't work

If the reset does not work follow this guide.

All credit for the guide to mecca2123

1 Download the software https://qviart.com/download/497/ 5.00 Qviart DUAL.bin” and rename it “RomUpdate.bin”
2. Format a USB in FAT32
3. Inside the USB create a folder and call it “RomUpdate ” and inside that folder we paste the software that you have downloaded and renamed as “RomUpdate.bin”

4. With the receiver turned off (from the button on the Rear Panel) insert the USB

5. Turn on the receiver from the button on the on the Rear Panel and then press and hold the “Power” button on the front panel of the receiver, and you will see that these 3 options will appear on the receiver display:
9f0c1e78dd9a8c6b4494c7c8f240b0bb.gif

6. Keep changing (by pressing the Power button) until you are in the option:
2b3152face9f85377ef9a1df3d1fac6d.gif

Which is the option to install the ANDROID
7 software. The receiver display stays for a while with that word "UPDT" and then the receiver turns off. reboot into the ANDROID menu.

Is the dual "lower spec" than the DRS2 or should I just take the reported "specs" with a pinch of salt?

I had seen the Dual 4k listed as having an A53 1.6GHz processor and the DRS2 having an A53 2GHz processor.

Shortcuts & Tips

It seems very few (if anybody) is aware of this, so I thought I would share the info.

If you power the box off at the rear and then on again (or shutdown / restart the box), when the display shows boot you have a few options.

As soon as boot is displayed (not before):

Repeatedly pressing OK on the remote control will boot recovery mode, you know it has worked when the display changes to RECO (although it looks more like AECO), from here you can boot any slot (provided the slot is not corrupted), reflash any slot (via network or usb) or boot Android. Sometimes it takes a few attempts, if you start pressing before "boot" shows then it seems not to work and if you start pressing too late, again it doesn't seem to work.

Repeatedly pressing 0 on the remote control will boot Android.

Repeatedly pressing 1 on the remote control will boot Enigma2 slot 1.

Repeatedly pressing 2 on the remote control will boot Enigma2 slot 2.

Repeatedly pressing 3 on the remote control will boot Enigma2 slot 3.

Repeatedly pressing 4 on the remote control will boot Enigma2 slot 4.

Also worth noting, that if the Android image becomes corrupted (bootloop), then you have to restore the Android image, starting with the factory image (currently 5.0) then updating to 1.0.4 (special) and then 1.0.6 assuming you wish to use the PT firmware.

However when you have to recover android, only Enigma2 Slot 1 will then boot, slots 2,3,4 will all need to be flashed again, so it's a good idea to make regular full backups of all enigma2 slots, and I would suggest it's better to keep your most used (favourite) image in Slot 1, as there is less chance of loosing this slot if Android gets into a bootloop (although it can still happen).

Anyway hope this info is of use to some of you with this box.

.. and 100% correct. I've just been through this experience after getting Android bootloop. It was no fun at all and took a long time to re-install EVERYTHING from scratch.
Thanks to Coke for his instructions as otherwise it would have been impossible.
Qviart should really have a convenient way to make a "whole box" back-up that could easily be restored in the event of a bootloop - which, from what I hear, is not that rare.

IMHO This box is only at alpha stage and needs a lot of development to remove the many bugs before it can be considered reliable and user friendly.
It has potential but is not a finished product yet.

A little more about getting recovery. I found I needed to press OK about 20 times within about 5 seconds to get the "RECO" on the screen. You can only start pressing "OK" (very rapidly) as soon as you see "BOOT" on the display. You may need to repeat this if it does not work on first attempt.

Ferret also posted another option on monday which is in post #69 of this thread. Would that have also helped you out?

You can also get into recovery mode by pressing the front power button at boot very quickly untill you see RECO then < > to shift through the option but its a nightmare and hit n miss. Drove me nuts.

Id no idea about using the remote for this so fair play to those that did. (y)

Does anyone know what the audio button is on the android side is? I can let people know that the yellow button in e2 brings up the audio and you can also use the help button to scroll down to audio. Just unsure on the andoid side. If there is a way to use the smart keys that may also be another option but i have not tested it yet.

Yes, that is the procedure I used to restore the official v5.00 Android image. However, the qviart link to the firmware no longer works. I also had to use an old 4GB USB rather than my new fast Kingstone 64GB USB stick. It seems the box is very picky on which USB sticks it can read in this mode. Otherwise the Kingstone 64GB works fine in this box.

However, recording some encrypted channels in Android mode is another major bug (does not work).
