This is a different issue to the one coming out of standby

Who knows, it depends on how you have the settings configured, if you change some of the settings, auto channel change (or whatever it is called) then it doesn't happen.

Ok do you get any glitching whilst watching the channel live? How often does it glitch so if I test I know how long to set up a recording for.

the live channel which FTA no problem time shift the scrambled channels work normal until we start using time shift it freez and no response to any RC time shift keys until changing the channel

I've just had a play about with the e2 images i have and to be fair the time shift is not very good at all. I can get about 12 seconds of record and not much longer.

You can do a factory reset of the image. Menu, Settings then personal and then reset i think.
