hello guys.. im looking for help here.. prob not in right section.. but i have dreambox 500s connected to router and laptop rady.. i want to disconnect firewall on my router to allow my mate to talk to my dreambox.. im on windows vista hope thissounds right hope ye can help..

sorry , i want to disable firewall on router. so friend can talk to my box, he has ip address of mine. but i need to disable firewall on router,, he not familiar with vista

Hi mate

For him to do that he need your ISP IP obviously.

You can do this 2 way. The first way would be to put the IP of your Dm in the DMZ zone of your router. This will allow all access to your DReambox.

Or your can just open specific post say FTP port 21 Telnet port 23 usually done in the applications and gaming section on the router.

Disabling the firewall may still not mean the required ports are open.

How and what program does he want to connect to your DM with?

just to update on my problem, as i was away for few days,, i didnt make any progess.. i actually lost contact with my router messing around changing things.. ok a guy was giving me cline to use .i dont have a static ip address, could ip address being the problem.. how can i get static ip ..

To use a cline you dont need a static ip.and if u want someone to connect to your box you need to port forward the ip and the port of your box in your router settings.in my router i had to set up a virtual server with my box ip and port.works fine.
