Hi,

I have on my Vu+ duo the last DE image and installed an internal HDD Samsung Barracuda 7200 rpm, 500GB (ST:3500830AS). The problem is, when i turn on the receiver the box stop on booting, it stops when shows on screen "booting". I have to power off the receiver take out the hdd and then it works again.
Wich internal HDD you recommend?

This Hdd works at 100% on my pc, so i think that the receiver do not works good with this hdd.

Hi mate

Strange most drive will work or should.

VU recommend the Samsung eco green drives, but before going to that expense put you drive back in a PC and in admin tool disc drives delete the any partitions in fact delete the drive and reinstall it in the vu.

If that does not work then try flashing the VTI image i here the DE image has problem recognizing some devices.

thanks for your help.

Iam thinking in the option of hdd external 2,5", connected by USB. Your opinion, what you think, internal or external?

I have 1TB hdd (WDC WD10EVDS-63U8B0) and works ok.

Some suggestions:

a.) I initialized my fresh HDD in the box, and got Linux filesystem (not NTFS or FAT). Soo, if you have any filesystem on HDD (and you probably have one, if you see the disk in your desktop), try remove all partitions on HDD (you will lost all data on HDD - youre warned!) - and try boot again.

b.) If you have Linux filesystem on HDD and still not boot, try wait more time. Maybe (but, im not sure) - the Linux before mounting the hdd checking it for filesystem consistency (fsck) - and this can run longer time. (on my hdd several minutes). - simply try wait few more minutes more for boot...

don't blame me if your STB blow out, erase all data on all computers in 5km radius or anything... ;) ;)

I would go with internal mate as its a big old box and has plenty of room. Not only that you'll get better transfer rates when playing MKV files of a internal HDD as apposed to a USB one.
