can anybody explain step by step how i can mount the dm500 with my pc.
i need settings in pc and dreambox

Hi I followed the instructions but no luck with the mount.
I intended to share a folder that contain Movies, is that possible, I am a newbee on Dreambox so please need all the help to get me going. Have a little doubt on these inputs:

Add the Share name (PC Share name) Is this my PC Name or just which is (HEAVENH-5Y65BQ2) is that what I put in?

Add LocalDir (Eks: /mnt/musikk) and here I should write Eks: as well as /mnt/musikk ??????

something like:
mount -t cifs //HEAVENH-5Y65BQ2/share /mnt/musikk -o username=username,password=password
this example work fine on SIF 1.93 C.
mount [instruction mount] -t [temporary] cifs [filesystem] //HEAVENH-5Y65BQ2 [computer name or ip address] /share [shared folder] /mnt/musikk [mount point] -o [options] username=username [username] , [argument separator] password=password [password].

Make sure all folders are named in lower case on your PC.

Turn off all firewalls to test the mount, firewall permissions can be added later.

and if you are still having problems look at the event viewer under Windows Admin tools, as this can often tell you if is failing to authenticate (e.g. password problem) or something due to naming.

If your XP machine is in a Workgroup as opposed to a Domain, you will first have to disable the Simple File Sharing Mode.
To do this, go into the Control Panel and open the “Folder Options” icon. This icon is under “Appearance and Themes” if you are in Category view.
Click the “View” tab and scroll down to the bottom. Uncheck the item:
“Use simple file sharing (Recommended)”
