Hi,

tried upadating my qbox with newest official firmware. used serial cable only as no lan available.

after the update and rebooting the qbox logo appears and dissapears for a second every 10 seconds or so. but the software never loads like a boot loop or smth.

Hope someone can help. Thanks!

the qbox updater console displays:

tried again and now it did work!

after pressing the reset button for 10 seconds the box stopped rebooting over and over again and the qbox logo was displayed permanently.

the lan connection became active again and after changing the lan settings in the qbox updater (to the ip addresses of the qbox and pc in my router) the update worked.

so the update only works with BOTH cables lan and null-modem!

thanks for the help!

try to reflash with the updater 1.07,...at the end of flashing it will ask you to reboot..use the button that will appear to do that...and see what happens then

BUT COULD U TELL ME HOW DID U FIND THE IP OF THE QBOX WHEN U COULDN'T RUN IT INTO MENU ?
I'VE GOT THE SAME PROBLEM I HAVE THE QBOX LAN CONNECTED TO THE ROUTER AND THE SERIAL CABLE FROM THE COMPUTER TO THE QBOX BUT I'M NOT ABLE TO SET THE IP OF THE BOX WHEN I DON'T KNOW IT ...PLEASE HELP...I KNOW THAT IS ON THE SAME 192.168.2.X ...BUT I DON'T KNOW LAST X....AND THAT'S THE PROBLEM

(other ones : 1.06 or 1.08 didn't work)

Thanx guys.

Could anyone tell me where to put the underworld keys because when I turn on underworld it doesn't unlock conax ...so I need to update them.
And is there any chance to change the skin ?(i've put profilic9 image)

in the setup of your router/networking device you should find the ip the qbox is using.

you have to put them into the var directories.

it's quite complicated: you have to extract the required folder via usb, insert the key-file on your pc and put the folder back in your qbox.

i only managed to do this with the avalon image, so i don't know about the method for the prolific image

just want to update my own post.

i've learned how to access/change files on my qbox now: any ftp application or dreambox control application will give u access to the files on your qbox from your pc.

just connect to the ip address of your qbox with username: "root" and password: "qboxqbox" and you can access the files in the var/ directories.

maybe this will help some people who are as new to this as me ;-)

Hi,

I am having the same problem.

I get a Kernel Panic and then the box reboots.

I can get a Telnet session over Hyperterminal, but I can't find any instructions on what to do next.

Any ideas?

Cheers,
vma

It works again.

I did this:

1) Downloaded QBOX_Updater_v.1.0.7.rar from this site.
2) Deactivated USE LAN.
3) Flashed the official firmware. This takes more than 5 minutes over RS-232!
4) Rebooted. It works again.

Fact: Do not use QBOX Updater v1.08. It must have some bug, because I did the exact same thing and the flash did not work.

Cheers,
vma

Hi I'm using QBOX Updater v1.08 and it works fine for me, I have flashed several firmwares successfully.:)

I did as well, until I tried to flash back the official Firmware...

After that, I could not flash any other firmware successfully.

Only with 1.0.7 did it work again.

I think it has to do with the Bootloader's configuration. If that gets faulty, Version 1.0.8 will not correct it properly. Just my guess, though.

Still, it is a shame to have a receiver like this, loaded with functions and even (aparently) a JTAG-connector and so little information... To the Duolab-Developers, how about:

- JTAG Software and Bootloader-File
- Instructions on how to use the uboot console with Hyperterminal
- Providing uncompressed/unencrypted firmware (at least one stable release, even without any emu's), to be flashed manually through tftp or JTAG
- ...

Cheers,
vma

Hi:

This is what Duolabs sent to me about my updating problems

"Can you try to use

http://206.53.51.55/qbox/QBOX_Updater_v.1.0.7.rar

this is the previous version, some users told that they have problems updating with the last version ( we did not find why yet )

also you can use the ethernet way to update the receiver, it is much faster and safe"

Saludos

I also encountered a boot loop today after trying to install original image with 1.0.8.
As suggested in this thread tried it with 1.0.7 and all went ok. All other image updates (~30 times) done with 1.0.8 have been successful
