Well, even if The_Ripper [and co.] isn't [aren't] paid now - he will have learned quite a bit about porting E2 to a platform in the process... Also, about writing drivers, the interplay of various systems and so on. On top of that, he will have learned how to put a team together, divide the roles and delegate, then close it all up again... That makes one more knowledgeable and more experienced, hence more employable and commanding higher rewards, if the porting is successful...
However, as Grizzly said, we shall probably have to wait for that a little longer, as the resolution will only be 720, i.e. the picture won't be as good as the original FW, the drivers not as good as they can be, bugs galore would be found everywhere... It's reasonable to assume it. Because these things are complex and they take time! It's just realistic to assume that. [Now, if they manage to go over that - great. If not, we are not going to be too disappointed... ]
On top of that, they may be working without any support from either OpenShite or Celrun, never mind the contemptible Sigma guys...
So, whatever they come up with it will be a feat! Of great interest to us, the hobbyists!!! Giving us something to do... More options... Others who write, this would have given more things to do for AZbug HD...
But there will always be a risk of never quite getting there, in other words, not doing it as well as the original FW/drivers/mediaplayer/whatever else is in there... Well, I, for one, am glad they are ready to take that risk!!! The_Ripper is more of a child than most developers, it seems, as he seems more playful, ready to stretch himself, test his capacities and that is a quality I admire!!!:thum: That is how you get places: by stretching yourself, not by playing it safe! You don't get very far by playing only as much as you are already sure you can pull off, that's for sure!
Good luck on your journey! Can't wait to read about a decent product to test...:clapping:
