Hi,I was given a dm 800 hd not sure if a clone or original,the box powers up with the fan working and ethernet lights only,there is no message on LCD screen just black,I can not even read box with rs232 cable any help please.

Usually a sign of component failure on the motherboard, in most cases it is CPU you could try replacing all the caps on the mobo this once worked for me with the exact same issue.

Looks to be a clone, afaik the original DM800HD do not have a fan.

Have you tried another power supply or tried to measure the power at the output? That could be an option.
If the ELKOs are "broken" the box do not get enough power.
That should be the first point to check.
