Hi all,
I'm trying to understand how I can use telnet to modify settings.
I can see it is enabled but haven't got a clue how it works.
Can I do it directly from the remote or do I need a program?
Can anyone shed some light?
Thanks in advance.

What setting do you wish to modify? A why do you want to use telnet?

When I press blue / yellow / 2 E2 Setting
I get a page called: Dream Elite E2 Enigma Settings Info.
I don't know how to modifie settings here. Some of them seem to be accessible from other pages but not all. Having tried few things, I thought telnet would be the way to go. [And I thought it would be good to learn how this works too]
I want to modifie parental control.
Thanks in advance for your help m8y.

Hi

To install a IPK you need to use a FTP program DCC or Filezilla. Do you know how this is done?

This will connect to your dreambox once setup and then you just navigate to the /tmp folder and send over the ipk

To install it goto your addons manager and choose manual install select the ipk and press ok.

Ok, it looks I can manage with the ipk solution. [completly lost with the other]
I've got a prog called DCC.exe
I can connect to my box and have found a temp folder. [ftp/tmp]
What do i do next?

Hi mate

In the right hand window of DCC navigate to where you extracted the ipk and highlight it in the left hand window navigate to /tmp.

Now with the ipk file highlighted press the Transfer arrow to transfer the the ipk over to /tmp in the right hand window.

For lack of answer, I have finally re-installed the image from scratch and set everything up properly. It only took me half hour to have my box up and running.
[I guess i'm too newby after all  )
