Here is a new version of the backup suite based on a new concept. The code had to be cleaned up, because it was hard to let it run cleanly.
Some things you should know:
- First remove the old version that can be done as follows:
Menu -> Remove red button Plugins - -> Extensions> system plugins -> backup suite <language>
If this does not work, you can try it with telnet
opkg remove "eni gma2-plugin-system-backup suite *" - force-removal-of-dependent-packages
or
opkg remove "eni gma2-plugin-system-backup suite *" - autoremove
You should look on the box if the folders are gone, they are usually in
/ usr / lib / eni gma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/Combi-HDD-Backup /
and
/ usr / lib / eni gma2/python/Plugins/SystemPlugins/Combi-USB-Backup /
These two folders should now be gone.
Restart after uninstalling the box please once again with "Restart eni gma2"
Then install the new version. The new folder for the backup suite can be generated in
/ usr / lib / eni gma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/BackupSuite-HDD /
and
/ usr / lib / eni gma2/python/Plugins/Extensions/BackupSuite-USB /
There are now only one package called backup suite (eni gma2-plugins-extensions-backupsuite_ <version>, currently V6.7), there are no more different languages.
Please feel free you to test this new version, I'm open to suggestions and changes to the German translation.
A final word: this version needs to install an Internet connection to necessary files such as. mkfs.ubifs reload.
Here is a new version of the BackupSuite. The only changes compared with the 7.0 version is the addition of a new language-file. The Russian language is added thanks to Odyssey (not sure if he is on this forum but nevertheless Thanks!)
The supported languages are now: English (default), German, French, Dutch and Russian.
Just for testing: BackupSuite 7.4a
I added the search-path /media/net to the plugin "Full back-up to USB"
If you add a file with the name backupstick or backupstick.txt to the root of your NAS you could try to make a back-up on your NAS with the plugin "Full back-up to USB"

As promised here is a simple plugin to plan and make automatic back-ups.
This plugin is a recycled autobackup plugin (the automatic settings backup)
The plugin can be found after installation in the plugins menu (Menu->Plugins-> Automatic Fullbackup).
There are 3 lines to configure
1 - Backup location (HDD/USB/SD/NAS there is NO check on validity of the medium!)
2 - Daily automatic backup (activated or deactivated)
3 - Automatic starttime (choose your time to let the backup cycle run)
Yellow button = start the backup process manual/immediately.
This plugin comes as it is, no or little support, no warranties and most likely no updates
The backups are placed in the correct folder depending on brand and model and in the folder automatic_fullbackup
I found the problem, I forgot to copy the adjusted backup.sh from the usb-version to the build environment. The error had no consequences for the back-up, the back-up was made and is fully functional.
Enclosed the new 8.6 version which also will be sent to Littlesat for distribution on the Openpli-feed.
Edit: After the next Openpli-build the BackupSuite will be online in the feed.
FOR OPENPLI 3.0 ONLY
Here's the latest version of the plugin BackupSuite, suitable for Openpli 3.0 / Open Embedded 2.0.
In this first post you'll always find the latest public version of the BackupSuite for Open Embedded 2.0.
The BackupSuite is capable of making full back-ups of a running system. The back-up contains all files and settings as they are on the system at the moment of making the back-up.
In case of emergency or any other mishap you are capable of restoring your system in a matter of a few minutes (< 5 ).
The BackupSuite can back-up the Xtrend models ET9x00, ET6x00 and ET5x00. Also are all VU+ models supported.
After installation* you will find 2 entries in the Menu under Menu -> Plugins (or in German Menu -> Erweiterungen)
Fullback-up to USB and (German: Voll-Backup direkt auf USB)
Fullback-up to HDD/USB (German: Voll-Backup auf HDD/USB)
*Installation has to be done with a working internet connection to be able to fetch the required package mtd-utils from the feed)
Fullback-up to USB (Voll-Backup direkt auf USB)
This option makes a back-up directly to an USB-flashdrive, however there is one condition that has to be fulfilled and that's there MUST be a file on the USB-flashdrive with the name backupstick or backupstick.txt or whatever name containing the word backupstick. So a file with the name: hands_off_this_is_my_backupstick.txt is also valid! It doesn't matter if UPPER- or lower-case letters are used or even a mix of those 2.
This back-up will be written on 2 places, one in the folder representing the modelnumber e.g. ET9x00 and in a folder with the name fullbackup_et9x00, this is your archive of all back-ups made directly to this USB-flashdrive.
Fullback-up to HDD/USB (Voll-Backup auf HDD/USB)
This option does the same as above except that it is on a harddrive (or NAS) and there is no need for a file with the name backupstick.
This option does provide an extra option namely copy the made back-up directly from HDD to an USB-flashdrive. If you place a valid USB-stick, as mentioned above, before or during the back-up process then the made back-up will also be copied to this drive at the end of the process.
The supported languages are now: English (default), Dutch, French, German, Polish, Russian and Spanish
Please don't try to use this version in the "older" images 2.1, the used programs/versions are not compatible
