The predicted coverage map attached of Eutelsat 8 west C @ 7.8 west is the same as this old map for Atlantic Bird 4A when it was @ 7 west,

So part of Algeria can receive this satellite.

Believe me my friend , nobody in Algeria could recieve this satellite , even by using dishes bigger than 2 meters , in Tunisia , it required 1.8 meter dish to catch a 35% signal , I know that the coverage should be similar to that of AB 4A , but on the ground , its quite different .

Hello dear friend ,
Where do you live exactly ?
I see " Algeria " in your profile , but as I know , people in Algeria couldnt recieve these signals ...

I live, Annaba, where very close to Tunisia :nana:
Dish diameter of 2.25 cm
Excellent signal and I'm having trouble :(

So the beam must be much further East/West than I thought it will be interesting to see the footprint map from Eutelsat when they get around to it still showing as 13 east under redeployment

Yes William , the beam indeed is displaced much to the east , and unexpectedly , much to the north , so , people in Yemen and south Of Saudi Arabia who used to recieve AB 4A in a good signal , could not recieve E8WC , just like people in Morocco , Algeria and Mauritania , with very good reception reports from Turkey , Greece , Italy and other countries further to the north .
On the other hand , I don`t know why Eutelsat didn`t publish the coverage map till now , they used to publish it a day or two after putting a repositioned into operation .

They seem to have forgotten about their main site:-
-http://www.eutelsat.com/en/satellites/the-fleet.html

Without feedback from ipad owners us in the pc world seem to being left behind :( & in the dark

No wonder we cannot receive these signals as they have turned the satellite footprint around by about 90 degrees

Yes William , it will be impossibe for you to get these signals , as I told you before , the coverage has been pushed much further to the east and to the north , I don`t know whether this is definite and cannot be changed , or it is controlled by Eutelsat , and they can change it anytime ...

New map from Eutelsat for E8WC site bears little resemblance to the original map for Hotbird-6,

Artistic interpretation of the footprint is as realistic as the Badr-4 map :)
