Which receiver would you recommend me?

Setting up a new motorized system after 10 years away from a great hobby. However looks like a lots changed, gone are the days of just adding a decoder and bunging a card in!

Some say patched receivers, some say cams and some say both, I say HELP!

I am really tempted to go for the following receiver as it states that it supports most encryptions and can also auto update over the air. Plus it looks like patches can be found pretty easily on the Net.

Echolink 3020 Multi card Satellite Receiver

Others that have taken my fancy include:

Technomate TM-5200D USB PVR Ready Patched Receiver
SatCatcher Voyager III 2CI + Embedded Cam Multi-Crypt
Can't find much on this one however, i.e updates etc
Evolve 8800 Reality Receiver 2 x CI, Card Slot + Embedded Reality Cam
Same as above, no updates found but as the Satcatcher it has 2 cam slots and is dirt cheap - £29.00.

What are your recommendations on a budget receiver? It must have USALS and decrypt most of the present encryption systems.

I have an 80cm Silvercrest dish with Lemon 0.2db LNB ready to supply the entertainment, but...........to what? :mecry:

I always suggest a linux based receiver as I think they are safest bet in terms of support. Some of them are not that expensive either like TM-9100 £149.95, DM 600 PVR £199.95, Eagle box £99.95.

Yes, they are. One of them is dreambox (DM 600 PVR), the other is a clone of dreambox 500 (Eagle box).

And you are right mstevanic but its price is out of range I guess.

Wooaaaah Just Googled and Ebay searched this and similar and yes it is way out my price range! Not bothered about High Definition, just want a box that will pull in the Premiership and also a good choice of movies.

Nickelodeon would be a big bonus for my daughter as its the only reason I am hanging on to S*Y TV. I have heard I can get this channel from Scandanavia in english.

Looks like its either a Technomate or an Echolink as I have heard a lot of good things about them.

Is Echolink asosiated with the Echostar receivers? Thats what I used to have all those years ago and I loved them. (4500/5500/8700):thum:

Really. Any Technomate, from what I can gather is a good option.
They have fast responsive software inside and are a doddle to update with a proper cable and PC nearby.

had problems with tmate 5200, BUT, swapped it for the 5400ci, and to date reccomend this one ,as i keep saying not as good bas sammy ,but a close second,.

pc with genpix skywalker

why not use a pc with tsreader and genpix skywalker 1 for HD skywalker HD device is about 229 right now.
