usb disk not recognised

i have been trying to set up my usb hdd to use for trying out several e2 images on my 900hd mini.
i have successfully partitioned the drive as follows

the problem i have is that the disk isnt being mounted upon booting (sifteam r.13791 in flash)
when i connect to the box by ft there is nothing in /mnt/usb
if i connect via telnet then i can see the disk mounted in /var/media
telnet then reads that sda2 is mounted in /var/media
if i disconnect and reconnect the disk then the messsage on screen reads 'usb media detected' and in ftp i can see in /mnt/usb usb0 usb1 usb2 usb3
telnet then reports that i have mounted sdb1,sdb2,sdb3 &sdb4 so the disk is now being seen as the second device.
has anyone got any ideas as to what the problem is?
i should be able to see the disk as usb0,1,2,3 and be able to boot from sda1,sda2 accordingly

i got sorted
booted the box without hdd attached so it wasnt being mounted as sda2 in var/media then attached hdd and in telnet mount was able to see partitions as sda1,2,3,& 4 in /mnt/usb/usb0,usb1, etc.
so all is good i think
