Launched in 1998 by BSkyB, for the start of new digital era, the Sky minidish was marketed as being smaller and more discrete than the current 60cm mesh dish used for analogue services at 19.2e.

Why did it not venture into Europe for use with the Sky De and ITA services?

Across Europe the conventional 60cm dish has continued to be used yet the UK has stuck with the minidish for digital satellite TV.

because the other countries prefer to pick up other satellites as opposed to uk sky not wanting the uk customers to realise theres more than one bird in the sky probably

It is simply Business , Power , Greed and sheer lust for money etc...
Sky UK do not want people to discover and start to "Believe in Better "
regardless of their mass advertising and false claims [ "Believe in Better " ] they are no longer the mega powerhouse that they once were .
it is simply not good for Business if they permit the dying subscribers they do have to discover alternatives with little to no endless adverts on those channels and in better quality not jammed every Transponder with dozens of channels leaving a trash picture quality .
Only now Sky are realizing the Sky minidish is a thing of the past and are now opting for the streaming route
so dishes are irrelevant and Sky would like to hope in a few years they will all disappear and leaving IPTV the very thing that they frown upon very seriously is their new cash cow to continue the Power , Greed and sheer lust for money etc...
And it regurgitates itself all over again [ "Believe in Better " ]

:ROFLMAO:

Think you can pull 13e on them too.

Is there a reason why the minidish was designed the way it was? Why not just use a 45/50cm conventional dish?

I think the Zone 2 dishes on a motor are quite capable. You’re always limited LNB wise though.
