Telecommunication and Information Society Week

May, 18 – 21, 2011, The Telecommunication and Information Society Week in Moldova - 2011 took place in Chisinau. At the event, the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communication organized a round table on May 20 in collaboration with the State Enterprise Radiocommunications regarding The Digital Terrestrial Television Introduction. The General Satellite has been invited to take part in it.

Among the Roundtable participants there were representatives of the Ministry (Dona Shkola - Vice-Minister, Information Technologies), the State Information Resources Center Registru, the State Enterprise Radiocommunications, the Committee on Culture, Education, Research, Youth, Sports and Media, the representatives of the National Agency for Electronic Communications and Information Technology Regulation NARECIT and others.

The first part of the Roundtable discussion was on the more specific issues of digital broadcasting in Moldova - the frequency plan, the strategy aspects of the transition from the analogue terrestrial to digital terrestrial television. At the debates, the Romanian National Authority for Communications Management and Regulation representative (Rom.: Autoritatea Naţională pentru Administrare şi Reglementare în Comunicaţii or ANCOM) shared the Romania television digitalization experience with the colleagues.

The Roundtable second part started with a presentation by Valery Elash (the Radiocommunications SE Development Manager) and Vyacheslav Pascal (the Radiocommunications SE Technical Director), who provided the audience with the digital broadcasting network technical development plans, and somewhat boasted of the achievements reached.

Then the General Satellite Corporation made a presentation regarding the Free-to-View Model as an Optimal Model for the Republic of Moldova Digital Terrestrial Television, and an ocular demonstration also of the additional services that can be based on the CAS and technologies developed by the General Satellite.
