Strange subtitle issue

Often I use my DM800se to play movies from my NAS disk. Normally I have no problem playing subtitles.
Yesterday I had this .mkv movie, and noticed that the .srt file was listed in movieplayer and selected it, but there was no subs shown on screen.

Then, by accident I figured out a way to make the subtitle work, by following this procedure:
1. Have the movie.mkv together with the movie.srt file ready in the same folder, as normal.
2. Start the movie, do not activate subtitle yet.
3. Use a filemanager on your PC and make a copy of the movie.srt file in the same folder.
4. Rename movie.srt to anything, eg. movie.eng.srt
5. Rename the copy_of_movie.srt into movie.srt
6. Now, press yellow button to activate subtitle file and it will work.

Any idea why this is happening, or if there is a way to permanently fix this?

I am using DM800se (A8P), original Newnigma2 image.

Strange subtitle issue - solved

In case anyone had similar issues, I did resolve my problem by installing another image.
I did try a couple of different images first and had the same problem. Until I installed Opendroid 5.5.

This image works better, and handles the subtitles a bit different it seems. When playing a movie, the .srt file gets activated by default, so you dont need to open the subtitle menu to select it.
