Strange error while updating firmware, Vantage 7100 C

Hi everybody,

nice forum i must say. very informative.

but i can't figure out how to update to Vantage_025501.hdp. i have a vantage 7100c and the system information states that firmware 02.49T.O is on this box. when i try to update the firmware by selecting Vantage_025501.hdp from my usb stick the box displays the message

"Selected file is damaged or different model"

What am i doing wrong? I also have to say that i cannot update to a original firmware later than 02.49T.O. It displays this message here to.

Can anybody help?

You could try to downgrade to 020603 first - you could get it from this link :

Then try again with 025501.

thx for the reply, sorry i already tried that. i tried it again just now and it won't work, same message.

and why is the file inside the zip a HDP file? hdp files are patched firmwares witch include the emu stuff. perhaps i should downgrad to the original firmware first? but where do i get the dhp file? vantage website does not list it.

btw: perhaps i should try to update the firmware with a serial connection? does anybody know whether the box also checks the file before updating in this mode?

hooray, i managed it by using the ftp explorer option (there seems no check of the file here or the data is transfered correctly). usb wont work for me, something is wrong here. the usb stick does not transfer the bits correctly or what? dont know.

i did the following for peoples having the same problem:

1. connect you box to your local network, dhcp works for me fine, box gets ip and is online

2. setup an ftp server, i used windows 7 iis ftp option (important: enable ftp in firewall or turn firewall off, enable unix file listing, note that the vantage box does not support virtual directories so you have to put the files directly in the ftp root)

3. go to the vantage menu, choose ftp explorer, enter your ftp machine data, for me its 192.168.0.2, username and password

4. press ok and connect to the ftp server

5. navigate to the hlp or dlp file and press enter, file is now being downloaded and afterwards flashed into the box

btw: i asked for a location where original fireware can be downloaded. either you use the ftp explorer option and connect to vantage ftp or visit

just a side note:

next thing i was trying to do is to update the softcam keys. i tried it by using the ftp explorer also. this does not work, you need to use the USB option here.
