Sky NZ unveils HDi figures

Sky New Zealand has signed up 31,000 subscribers to its MySky HDi high definition PVR service since launch in June and says it is on track to meet its 80,000 target by next June.

Of the subscribers to the service, just a quarter have migrated from the standard-definition My Sky product, implying plenty of room for growth. And the number of new subscribers to the platform drawn by the product has also surprised Sky NZ, at 17% of the new subs, rather than the 10% forecast.

But high definition revenues, likely to be NZ$15 million for the year to next June, will be lower than the forecast NZ$17 milllion. HDi ARPU should be in line with forecasts at NZ$81. Capital expenditure on the new service (decider and install costs) is forecast at NZ$53 million for the year.

For the wider group, profits for the full year to the end of June 2009 are forecast by the company to be flat, at between NZ$90 million and NZ$100 million, compared to last year's NZ$98 million.
