Hello

I need to purchase a PCI satellite card that will allow me to record encrypted channel including **** data etc to use as TS with CSA RTT. Also needs to be fully x.264 compatible for playback (unlike my AZBOX!).

I've always used STB until now, so would like to hear recommendations for the best PCI card please.

Thank you

Thank you EnoSat! I'm complete newbie in this field and so all these makers are new to me (apart from Compro as I have TV card by them), and therefore I have some more questions please.

1. Are there any particular 'based' series I should consider over others and if so why?

2. Are there any particular current favorites among feed hunters?

3. Are all of these cards capable of 4:2:2 searches?

4. Are any of them more capable than others when it comes to running plug-ins, displaying X.264 etc.

5. Any other important info or feature I should make sure a PCI card has?

Thank you

Hi.

Can any confirm which of the above PCI-E cards that can record TS files from BBC on 27.5W with the high symbol rate of 44.100 ?

Carsten.

Anyone else like to add input please? I still have all five questions outstanding in post 3 that I'll like to understand to ensure I purchase the correct card.

EnoSat, is there any reason you red highlighted TBS 6926 PCI-E? Is this the one you most recommend?

Thank you

tbs6925 will get the job done. All questions about 4:2:2 or h.264 are all codec dependent (i.e software not hardware)

1. Are there any particular 'based' series I should consider over others and if so why?

best support for this model

2. Are there any particular current favorites among feed hunters?

same as 1

3. Are all of these cards capable of 4:2:2 searches?

4:2:2 only format video stream , not question about HW - this question SW (codec)

4. Are any of them more capable than others when it comes to running plug-ins, displaying X.264 etc.

same as 3 , question SW or graphic card

5. Any other important info or feature I should make sure a PCI card has?

support in your OS and use norm in your contry

Thanks EnoSat, but to be honest I'll still a little none the wiser.

Question 1 & 2. I understand it's best to go for a model that is well supported (as is the case with STB), but the question was more in regards as to what is the main difference between chips, as in difference between STV090X vs TMAX TAS2100 for example? Which is the current favorite card amoung feedhunters?

Questions 3 and 4 make perfect sense, thank you.

Question 5, I was more referring to the ability to run plugin's and emulators etc, or can they all do that? Can all these card perform blind scan?

The most important question I guess that is the main reason for getting a PCI card...

Are all these cards capable of recording encrypted channel including all data needed to use as TS with CSA RTT? If not, which models are capable?

tbs6925 will get the job done.

Wow at £167, that is expensive! Are the low cost TBS models of no use? I don't need loop out and only features I really need are blind scan and ability to record encrypted channels with full data. Sales page mentions 'TBS tool or Crazyscan tool', can these tools not be used with the models below, such as the 6922 which has blindscan listed as feature?

i've got the 6922. that will do everything you need. i have a 64bit os so getting some software such as crazyscan to work has been a problem. On my setup, the 6922 works fine with progdvb and transedit. Dvbdream works but is limited (positioner console crashes the sw)
It all depends on your setup, it might turn out you plug the card in away you go. But be prepared to trial and error some settings/software. What i will tell you is the results are rewarding and worth the time and effort

I've gone through and looked at all the different TBS models now and these made my shortlist...

TBS6922 £50
TBS6991 £133
TBS6925 £167

I've decided on 6922 as it's just what I need for now. Good price and nice entry level item to get me going, learn basics and then I can always upgrade if needed later.

I running Windows 7 64Bit, and am fully prepared for the odd problem as pretty much expected in this game, but like you say worth the time and effort. I will however need blind scan working so was you able to get this working in the end?

The fact that 6925 has 'CCM, VCM,ACM and Multi Input Stream Support, Generic Stream Mode Support, 200Ksps to 45Msps and 16PSK & 32PSK has me intrigued, but to be honest I have no idea what these extra features will allow me to do?

I understand that they will allow to to find the most hard to find feeds, but probably not probably not the ones I'm after really. I mostly hunt tennis, and occasional footy and boxing feeds, but haven't once come across one using 16PSK, let alone 32PSK. Have any of you? As such will the 6922 be suitable for the sort of feeds I hunt?

Anyone?

Also cluefoot mentioned he had problems (while using Windows 7 64bit) getting the blind scan working for TBS6922. Anyone else encounter and overcome these problems, and if so how please?
