at some point in the future they will likely pull broadcast licencing renewals and charge individual customer directly were they can rake in more $$$ All the revenue they are currently raking in via the broadcast rights cant be replaced overnight.

I think the NBA has some similar sort of model - I may be wrong though

The 4 major US sports still sell rights to broadcasters internationally. but also have a internet based service that lets people subscribe around the world and get access to all the games. NBA.TV League Pass, NFL gamepass on DAZN, MLB.TV and NHLTV . Pretty much every game is available if you want to sub to these services.
Pity here in the UK the Premier League does not or won't do something similar.
