Pakistan, in the coming months, is waiting for an investment from Russia

Moscow is investing in various sectors of Pakistan's economy, including steel and banking industries, said the chairman of the Board of Investment of Pakistan.

Russia's government in the coming months will begin to invest in various sectors of Pakistan's economy, including steel and banking industries. This was stated by Chairman of the Board of Investment of Pakistan, Saleem Mandviwalla, as reported by the country’s second largest English-language news paper, The Dawn, with reference to the country’s state news agency, Associated Press of Pakistan.

Russian investments will soon flow into the banking sector of Pakistan, the official added, saying that negotiations on the steel industry continue. Saleem Mandviwalla reminded that Moscow is a major investor in the region, and Russia is ready to invest in the most promising companies in Pakistan.

Pakistan will resume bilateral trade and investment with Russia, which had been interrupted for 30 years, said Saleem Mandviwalla. This is a very big initiative of the current Pakistani government, which will help improve relations between the two countries, said a civil servant.

Board of Investment of Pakistan in June 2011, will launch an online service for registration of special visas for foreign investors and businessmen, said chairman of the Board of Investment of Pakistan.

From May 11th to May 14th, Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari was in Moscow on an official visit. Following the meeting with his Russian counterpart, Dmitry Medvedev, the two leaders issued a joint statement. The joint statement says that the parties will concentrate efforts in promoting trade, investment support and joint projects primarily in energy, infrastructure, industry and agriculture. In addition, the presence of the presidents signed several documents on cooperation in the sphere of economy and transport.
