Octagon SX88 V2 - French channels on 5 degrees west?

I'm using an Octagon SX88 V2 with the latest Open VIX (6.4 ). I've scanned 5 degrees west and while the French channels there have a good signal, I can't resolve them. As the box is multi-stream, I thought they'd be FTA. Is it because I'm using Open VIX? Is there something else I should be doing to see these channels FTA?
For the enigma, you would have to use a suitable satellites.xml so that the scan can also find programs from MIS transponders.

Why not just try a setting list from the vix image it's the simplest solution provided the settings list are up to date. My qviart dual uses the same chip set and I have no issues on E2.

Thanks. I have found the 5 West files on Dreambox edit. I see that the editor creates a lamedb5 file and satellites XML. Could I simply transfer them using a USB stick?

Dreambox edit is a program for sending a channel list download from the internet to your box. You down load the channel list from the internet. Save it into a folder and then set up dreambox edit with your boxes ip address and password. You then open your folder you just saved and tell the program to send the files to your box. Why would you want to send the files to a usb stick.

I have said on a few occasions now why do you no try a just installing a channel list from the vix plugins menu. Is the box connected to the internet? If not i can understand why, but if it is it will only take you a few seconds to go into the plugins menu and download a list that should already have all the details you need.

Thank you for your patience.

1. I started a few days ago by installing a channel list from VIX. I used this to scan satellites, including 5 west. The problem is that I could not open the French channels (which are multistream). The channels are there but not FTA. My objective is to see these multistream channels.

2. I would prefer to put files on a USB stick and select them in the Octagon's plugins folder as I have no knowledge of ftp at all. I thought it would be easier and quicker to put the files on a USB stick and plug it in. Would that work?

When you installed a channel list before did you install the channel list that was named rotating? There will not be an easier way to install a channel list other than menu, plugins, green button download plugins, then you select settings and then you need to choose a settings list that says rotating. There are others in my list but you must make sure you select rotating.

I have switched images and using openpli and on this images when scrolling through the channels it gives me the frequency of each listing. You know the listing frequency that is free to air so maybe your image shows that too. Below is just an example..

I downloaded the ciepf settings at post 386. I unzipped the rar file and within it there are other rar files. I have not been able to find one called "settings motor".

On your receiver on the remote press menu, plugins, green button download plugins, select settings, choose the rotator one and download it to your box. No messing around with usb sticks. Assuming your box is connected to the internet?

Ok , things look complicated when You are beginner , understandably
So , to make them simple do the following - take RC in Your hand and press in this order
- Menu - Plugins ( Addons ) - here You press green button - in new open page choose Settings - scroll down and find Ciefp motor 68e-30w , press OK and that sett. list will be installed
Go again back to menu and restart box , and thats it

Thanks again. I have now found and installed the settings motor list. I am now looking at the French channels on 5 West. Many of them are now open but, interestingly, quite a number are not. For example, the France 3 channel shown in kegnkiwi's screenshot is not.

Point taken. I hadn't noticed that France 3 Bordeaux not on the FTA transponder. Many thanks for all your help.
