So, my brand new (3 weeks old) Technomate motor looks to have gone down the same route of its brothers and sisters, and died a horrible death. Tried changing cables, receivers and putting a pin in the reset hole, but it just sits there, flashing orange and clicking when trying to move manually.

Think I've potentially found the motor destroyer though - my Octagon receiver. Just to clarify - probably a stupid question - but I'm guessing that the shell of the casing should NOT be putting out voltage. Even if the box is off at the switch on the back, but still plugged in, I've noticed that if I unplug the coax cable and hold both that and the receiver, I get a shock (luckily at between 12-18v im guessing, and not 240v!) I think this could be what's causing my motors to have a premature death! Anyone else have the same?

Is there any way the motors can be repaired? Even if by Technomate?

The Octagon only supplies voltage to the motor if the motor casing is live id say the motor's internals are causing that.

Contact TM or supplier and get replaced.

More experimentation today. I noticed that I was still getting a shock when holding both the receiver and coax cable even when the power supply wasn't plugged in at all! First off I thought that somehow voltage was coming back down the coax cable as its run alongside CCTV power cables, but to eliminate that, I moved the coax away from any other cables and it still shocked me! Even tried bypassing the motor (in case it had shorted) and joined the cables from the motor with an F-connector coupler, but still the shock persisted!

I've now narrowed it down to the HDMI from the TV. The outer part of it which should be ground is sending out voltage. Is this normal? Can it cause damage to equipment? (explaining the dead motor) And is there any way to stop it, by maybe Earthing it somehow? Anybody else had the same issue?

The power source in the TV is no longer in the best condition
Current should not flow between the ground of the TV and the ground of the box or antenna
