IP video firm Zixi has added linear functionality to simplify contribution, distribution and aggregation of channels for OTT, MVPD and content providers.
The company says that the addition of the new Live Linear Managed Service to its Zixi Managed Services (ZMS) suite provides broadcasters and content owners with an economical alternative to fibre and satellite with the same reliability, uptime and security.
Using this service, the Zixi assures that linear content in all formats, bitrates and quality, can be delivered to major service providers over IP using its, with a setup time that is measured in hours instead of days and with up to 99.999% reliability. Zixi adds that its Live Linear Managed Service can also enable new content and revenue opportunities.
“Multichannel Video Programming Distributors (MVPD) are starting to offer ‘skinny bundles’ to their customers. Skinny bundles require a broader range of channel options for the service provider to cater to targeted audiences,” explained Zixi CEO Yaron Simler. “Content owners, MVPDs and over-the-top (OTT) service providers need an economical alternative to existing delivery options.”
