Harry Maguire: The centre-back has been linked with a move away from Bramall Lane

Harry Maguire has pledged his future to Sheffield United for at least the next five years after outlining his dream of playing for his hometown club in the Premier League.
The 19-year-old centre-back has been linked with Newcastle United,
spacer.gif
Fulham
spacer.gif
and Everton
spacer.gif
in the past but he has no interest in leaving Bramall Lane.
spacer.gif

Maguire has three years left on his current contract and has indicated he would be happy to stay beyond 2015 if that is required to get the League One Blades into the top flight.
He said ahead of Saturday's match at Scunthorpe: "My future's with Sheffield United.
spacer.gif

"I look forward to being here three, four or five years, if it takes us that long to get back in the Premier League.

"I'm willing to stick it out that long.
"I'm contracted for three years but I'm happy to wait five to get to the Premier League. We're looking at the future. This is a huge club."
Maguire was a first-team member of the Sheffield United side who last season lost on penalties to Huddersfield Town

in the League One play-off final.

Guy Madjo: Aldershot Town striker has joined Plymouth Argyle on a month's loan

Plymouth Argyle have snapped up striker Guy Madjo on an emergency month-long loan deal from League Two rivals Aldershot Town.
Madjo joined the Shots in January after a disappointing spell at Stevenage and he scored eight goals in the second half of last season.
However, he has only featured as a substitute so far this term and Aldershot boss Dean Holdsworth has allowed the 28-year-old to join Plymouth in order to free up space in his own squad.

Holdsworth told his club's official website: "This is a move that suits both Guy and the club. I need to generate some finances to bring in at least one player in the loan window.
"Guy will be able to get more minutes on the pitch which he needs at this moment in time. If he comes back in the sort of form that he was in when he joined the club I will be delighted."
Madjo signed in time to feature in Plymouth's local derby against Torquay United

on Saturday and he is eligible for the club's next seven games.

Arsene Wenger says Johan Djourou is still part of his plans at Arsenal

Johan Djourou: Arsenal defender is still part of Arsene Wenger's plans at Emirates Stadium

Arsene Wenger says Johan Djourou is still part of his plans at Arsenal after the defender was linked with a summer move away from the club.
Djourou started only 14 games in the Premier League last season and he has yet to feature in the opening three matches of the current campaign.
Reports claimed that the Switzerland international was looking to secure a move to Italy in search of regular football and he was linked with a switch to Napoli.
spacer.gif

However, nothing materialised before the close of the transfer window and Wenger is happy that the 25-year-old is still at Emirates Stadium.
"I didn't let Djourou leave as I love him as a player, and he loves the club," the Arsenal
spacer.gif
boss is quoted in The Sun Sunday.
Djourou has made over 140 appearances during his Arsenal career and faces competition from Per Mertesacker, Thomas Vermaelen
spacer.gif
and Laurent Koscielny for a centre-half spot.

Swansea City defender Ashley Williams is not worrying about a new contract

Ashley Williams: Swansea City defender is happy and is in no rush to sign a new contract

Swansea City defender Ashley Williams says there is no pressure to sign a new contract after insisting he is happy at the Liberty Stadium.
The Wales international enjoyed an impressive debut season in the Premier League and he was linked with a move to Newcastle United
spacer.gif
over the summer.
Williams
spacer.gif
only signed a three-year extension to his contract 12 months ago, but reports have suggested Swansea want to offer the centre-half a new four-year deal.

The 28-year-old is happy to be wanted in South Wales,
spacer.gif
but has stressed there is no rush to reach an agreement over fresh terms.
"It's a boost and always nice to be wanted," said Williams in the Sun Sunday. "It is early days and we haven't got down to talking about it.
"But there's no rush as Swansea know me. I've been here five years and they know I'm not bothered about contracts. I just get on with the job.
"How could I not be happy at the minute? It's been a great start, in fact perfect. I'm captain and I'm enjoying it.
"If the contract is right for me to sign now, then I'll sign it. If it's not, then I won't sign it. It's no big deal or pressure. I may sign it in the future. At the minute I'm happy."

Ian Holloway will not let Tom Ince leave Blackpool for £5million
Last Updated: September 9, 2012 10:25am

Thomas-Ince-Tom-Ince-2012-august_2818353.jpg
Tom Ince: Blackpool midfielder will not be leaving for the Premier League on the cheap, according to Ian Holloway

Blackpool boss Ian Holloway has told Premier League clubs they have no chance of snaring starlet Tom Ince on the cheap.
Ince was let go by Liverpool
spacer.gif
in 2011 without a top-flight appearance to his name but has since flourished at Blackpool,
spacer.gif
hitting 16 goals in 29 games last season and four in five so far this term.

The Seasiders are reported to have rebuffed a £4million bid from Newcastle for the 20-year-old but, though further approaches are expected in the January window, Holloway has fired an early warning.
"I heard this week that my brilliant Blackpool youngster Tom Ince will be heading for the Premier League in January," the Blackpool boss wrote in his Sunday Mirror column.
"That might just happen if he maintains the incredible standards he has set in the first few weeks of the season ... but not for the £5m fee being quoted.

"I'm not going to say how much interested clubs will have to come up with if they are to prise one of my best players away. But I did note that Liverpool have just paid £15m to Swansea for Joe Allen.
spacer.gif

"My chairman showed in the way he dismissed below-market-value bids for Matt Phillips
spacer.gif
this summer that Blackpool won't allow bigger clubs to take liberties with us.
"We've got money in the bank following our season in the Premier League and subsequent trip to the Championship play-off finals so we don't need to let our top performers leave on the cheap."

West Brom midfielder Scott Allan is hoping to go out on loan
Last Updated: September 9, 2012 11:19am

Scott Allan: West Brom midfielder hopes to go out on loan after a move to Crystal Palace didn't materialise

West Bromwich Albion midfielder Scott Allan is hoping to shortly secure a loan move after seeing a previous switch to Crystal Palace fall through.
Allan has yet to make his debut for West Brom
spacer.gif
since joining in January from Dundee United,
spacer.gif
but made 15 appearances on loan at Portsmouth
spacer.gif
last season.

He was a target for Palace before the transfer window closed and the Scotland Under 21 international is now waiting to see what opportunities arise in his search for first-team football.
"I'm hoping to get out on loan to get first-team football," said Allan in the Sunday Mail.
"I was meant to go to Crystal Palace
spacer.gif
in the window and it didn't materialise. I was gutted and the manager was gutted for me.

"But I can still go out on a youth loan for three months, given I'm only 20, so hopefully I can get something sorted.
"It's frustrating but when I look at the job the West Brom players are doing I can't have any complaints. They've had great results recently.
"I still think I made the right choice, some of the boys who can't get on the bench are full internationals so I just have to bide my time."

Phil Neville would welcome chance to extend Everton contract
Last Updated: September 9, 2012 1:15pm

Phil-Neville_2750009.jpg
Phil Neville: Says Everton must aim to improve and challenge for trophies

Phil Neville says he would love to play in a different country but will stay at Everton if he is offered a contract extension.
The 35-year-old's current deal expires at the end of the season and he is relaxed about the situation, despite being very keen to prolong his career.
Neville
spacer.gif
hopes he will be given the chance to agree fresh terms at Goodison Park,
spacer.gif
but if not he may pursue a new challenge away from England.

"I want to keep playing for as long as I can," the former Manchester United
spacer.gif
man, who moved to Everton
spacer.gif
in 2005, told The Independent.
"At least one more year at the top level if I can. I still have ambitions. For instance, I've always wanted to sample playing abroad, a different culture and different life-experience for all the family.
"Time's running out, I know, and if the gaffer [David Moyes
spacer.gif
] comes to me in January and wants me to stay another year then the decision's made for me."

Looking beyond his playing career, Neville has already decided that he would love to get more involved in coaching after his passion was ignited by a short stint working with the England Under 21s last season.
"I've always had long contracts in the past and coming to the last year you can be fearful, but I'm quite excited," he explained.
"The three days I had with the Under 21s were, well, life-changing. I really got the bug. My strength has always been in professionalism and preparation, and coaching is just an extension of that. It gave me a real insight into what I want to do.
"I've got my A licence now, I go to games and study methods and read a lot. I've always been into the fitness side, my [twin] sister's a conditioning coach so I tap into that.

"I'm a long way short of being a coach or manager but I'm trying to learn all aspects of it. I think some managers go into it under-prepared, and I don't want to be one of those."
Neville has loved his time with Everton but still feels they must strive for improvement and does not think finishing above Merseyside rivals Liverpool
spacer.gif
should be the sole aim.
"It's something that rankles with me, something I've not bought into at all," he said. "If one team finishes seventh and the other is eighth, you get the bragging rights but with nothing to show for it.

"Liverpool have been so successful over the years and Everton have to had to swallow it. I totally understand that and I can relate to Evertonians when it comes to derby day, but how great it would be if we actually won a trophy.
"I'm not sure Liverpool have the same outlook. They probably look at the bigger picture, they want to win the league, the FA Cup and the League Cup, and that's the mentality we should have. Last year Kenny Dalglish
spacer.gif
won the Carling Cup
spacer.gif
and got the sack, so it shows what the expectations are."

Doyle pens new Blades contract

Doyle: Commits to Blades

Sheffield United skipper Michael Doyle has signed a new three-year contract at Bramall Lane.
The 31-year-old midfielder, who joined the club from Coventry in January 2011, played a key role for the Blades last season when they reached the League One play-off final.
"I had a great time last season, it was the most enjoyable in my career to date, it was unfortunate the way it ended, but I feel I can play my part in getting this club back into the Championship at the very least," the Irishman told the club's official website.

"I enjoy coming to work and working with my boss, the people throughout the club have made this feel like home and I was only too happy to extend my stay until 2015. Hopefully, if I'm fit and healthy, the club will still want me beyond this deal."

Manager Danny Wilson added: "This is a marker from the club that we want to look beyond the next six months or so, our long-term planning was to keep Michael tied down and this should send out great vibes."
Doyle, who started out at Celtic
spacer.gif
before spending eight years at Coventry and a year on loan at Leeds, has made a total of 76 appearances for the Blades.

Ross Jenkins: Set to join Plymouth on loan from Watford

Sky Sports understands Plymouth are poised to sign Watford midfielder Ross Jenkins on loan.
Watford boss Gianfranco Zola is willing to let Jenkins move out on loan as he has dropped down the pecking order at Vicarage Road.
Zola brought in a host of new faces during the summer transfer window and Jenkins' first-team opportunities are set to be limited.
The 21-year-old has only made one appearance this term in the Capital One Cup clash with Bradford and he is keen to head t out and get some regular action under his belt.
Plymouth boss Carl Fletcher is keen to bolster his squad and he has lined up a deal to bring Jenkins to Home Park on a temporary basis.

Aneke: On loan with Railwaymen

Crewe boss Steve Davis is pondering a possible loan extension for Arsenal youngster Chuks Aneke.
The 19-year-old's full Alex debut turned sour last weekend when he received a straight red card for a two-footed challenge on Stevenage's Anthony Grant.

Aneke serves the second game of a three-match ban when the Railwaymen take on Leyton Orient

Vieira dismisses Dzeko rumours

City chief rubbishes Juve link

Edin Dzeko: Staying with City

Manchester City's Patrick Vieira has rubbished suggestions that Edin Dzeko could be sold by the club any time soon.
The Bosnian was strongly linked with a move away from the club over the summer, and most recently Juventus
spacer.gif
were linked with a January move.
But Vieira, City's football development executive, has insisted that Juve would be wasting their time even showing an interest in Dzeko
spacer.gif
- who scored during City's midweek 3-2 Champions League loss to Real Madrid.
spacer.gif

"Dzeko to Juve? For us he is a key player," he told Tuttojuve.com.
"Did you see that goal he scored against Real Madrid? I'm sorry for the Bianconeri fans, but the extraordinary strikers do not move from Manchester."
Dzeko joined City in January 2011 when they paid Wolfsburg
spacer.gif
£27million for his services.

Emile Heskey: Former Aston Villa striker has joined A-League side Newcastle Jets

Former England international striker Emile Heskey has ended his search for a new club by signing for Australian side Newcastle Jets.
Heskey
spacer.gif
was available on a free transfer after leaving Aston Villa
spacer.gif
at the end of last season and he had been linked with a move to Hull City
spacer.gif
among other clubs.

However, the 34-year-old has opted for a fresh challenge down under and he has become the Jets' marquee signing for the 2012/13 season.
"This is an exciting new period in my life and I am looking forward to making a special contribution to the A-League and most importantly, to the Jets," Heskey told his new club's official website.
"I hope I can help grow football at the grassroots level and also provide advice to young players at the Jets.

"The season isn't far away, so I will be in Newcastle soon, training with my new team-mates and be ready for kick off on October 7."
Heskey joins former Sunderland
spacer.gif
forward Michael Bridges
spacer.gif
at the Jets and coach Gary van Egmond is delighted with the capture.
"Emile is someone who has unbelievable experience, having played for England 62 times," van Egmond said.
"His effectiveness in being able to hold the ball up and invite other players to play off him is going to be a big benefit to us.
"He's someone who can really lead the line and is exactly what we've been missing."

Jem Karacan: Has revealed he wants to play for a Turkish club in the future

Reading midfielder Jem Karacan says he is happy after committing to the club but has revealed he wants to play for a Turkish side in the future.
The 23-year-old, who came through the academy at Reading and has already made 125 appearances, pledged his future to the Royals earlier this week when he signed a new three-year deal.
While delighted to extend his stay at the Madejski Stadium,
spacer.gif
Karacan says he would love to play in Turkey one day.

The young midfielder has a Turkish father and has already represented the country up to under-21 level.
He told the Daily Star: "I've been here for nine years and this club is close to my heart. I wouldn't want to be anywhere else."
But Karacan added: "A few years ago I was close to going to Besiktas.
"And I think my dad would have a go at me if I didn't play in Turkey one day.
"He wants me to play for Galatasaray. One day in the future, though."

Sullivan funded Carroll deal

Hammers co-chairman reveals state of club's finances
Last Updated: September 21, 2012 10:10am

David-Sullivan_2697498.jpg
David Sullivan: Has revealed he is helping to fund a deal for Andy Carroll as West Ham have no spare money for transfers

David Sullivan has revealed he and fellow West Ham co-chairman David Gold funded the summer signing of Andy Carroll out of their own pockets as the club continues to tackle significant debts.
The England striker completed a loan move to Upton Park from Liverpool towards the end of the summer transfer window with a view to a permanent deal next summer.
He made an instant impact on his debut against Fulham earlier this month, setting up two of West Ham's three goals before limping off with a hamstring injury in the second half.

It was a significant investment by the London club, who were playing Championship football last season and are still paying off debts accrued under their previous ownership.
Sullivan revealed that because of those debts he and Gold are funding the deal for the 23-year-old out of their own pockets.
He also admits that boss Sam Allardyce would have been unable to strengthen the squad at all this summer without their backing.
"I cannot give confidential details of contracts but for the period of time Andy will be with us it's as expensive a player as we have ever signed."

David Sullivan Quotes of the week

"We are financing everything out of our own money,' he told the Daily Mail.
"Had we not put money in this year we could not have bought a player. Because there is not sufficient money to pay the debt. I cannot give confidential details of contracts but for the period of time Andy will be with us it's as expensive a player as we have ever signed.
"But our manager thought he was the most important player we could sign this summer and that is why we pursued him. Unfortunately he got this hamstring injury. But that's just bad luck."
Financially stable

Sullivan and Gold took control of the club from Icelandic firm CB Holdings in January 2010 and he concedes the club's finances would have put off most potential owners.
However, he is determined to ensure the club becomes a Premier League force in the short-term, with the long-term aim of becoming financially stable once more.
"As a business venture it made no sense at all," he added. "Not the deal we did.
"The club was £120m in debt with very few assets. It was a mess. I knew, when the Icelandics were signing the players they were for the money they were paying, it made no financial sense

"But David and I are not in it for the money. We don't want to go bust either. The aim is to make the club self-sufficient. But we want to put the best possible team on the pitch for the supporters of West Ham because we are supporters too.
"Because of the mess we inherited we have to service a £100m debt. There are commitments that have to be paid and we have to pay interest on the debt. But we also had to put the money in to put together a team that would get us promoted.

"David and I are not in it for the money. We don't want to go bust either. The aim is to make the club self-sufficient. But we want to put the best possible team on the pitch for the supporters of West Ham because we are supporters too."
David Sullivan Quotes of the week
"So we are spending capital. Spending our life savings. There is no point kidding ourselves.
"Now, if the king of Saudi Arabia wants to buy West Ham we would happily step aside for the good of the club. But we wouldn't step aside for a mystery foreign buyer whose financial resources we have no knowledge of."
Stadium

Sullivan feels one way out of West Ham's financial predicament could be a move to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford.
The Hammers were originally awarded the right to take over the ownership of the stadium last year, but the deal collapsed following legal challenges by Tottenham and Leyton Orient.
They are now one of four formal bidders to become tenants of stadium in a revised bidding process, with Sullivan convinced West Ham have the best bid both for the club and the Olympic legacy.

"Now we obviously want to move to the Olympic Stadium," he added.
"For three years we've been trying to secure it. We believe we have the best bid. We will make football affordable to all because we will have the seats to do deals, and we will make the whole stadium economically viable.
"We will embrace the athletics legacy and make it a brilliant, multi-purpose facility."

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba insists he is happy at his new club Shanghai Shenhua

Didier Drogba: Says he has no regrets over leaving Chelsea for Shanghai

Former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba insists he has no regrets over leaving Stamford Bridge and maintains he is at Shanghai Shenhua for the long-term.
Doubt has been cast over the future of Drogba and fellow former Blues forward Nicolas Anelka following reports of a power struggle at their new club.
Drogba, who ended his eight-year stint with the Blues in the summer to move to China, has been linked with a return to the Premier League, but insists he has no plans to leave Shanghai and wants to see out his two-and-a-half year deal.

"I'm here. I just arrived, like, two months ago," said the Ivory Coast international.
"I'm really happy here - I am. I am really happy here. So I have no reasons to leave. I don't want to leave. I want to stay here as long as I can, win some trophies with my team, and make our fans very happy.
"It's difficult at the moment but I know that there is hope, and I believe."

Asked how long he saw himself staying with the Chinese Super League club, he replied: "My contract. My contract is two-and-a-half years and maybe more. Maybe more and I hope more because I'm really happy here.
"I miss the Premier League because it's the best league in the world but, really, I don't regret my choice."
Upheaval

"I miss the Premier League because it's the best league in the world but, really, I don't regret my choice."
Didier Drogba Quotes of the week
Drogba arrived in China soon after Sergio Batista had replaced Jean Tigana at the helm, but has played down the significance of the recent upheaval.
"It's what happens at a normal team, at a normal club, like it happened at Chelsea, like it happened at Manchester City, like everywhere," said the 34-year-old, whose side lie ninth in the 16-team table with six games remaining.

"That's football, that's part of the game, you know. Like, the manager comes, if he doesn't get results, they change.
"It's the same thing. Football is universal. It's the same thing that happens everywhere in the world."
It had been suggested the player was not being paid, given the reported financial issues at the club, but Drogba insisted that was not the case.
"Of course they are [paying me]," he said.

Lionel Messi: In line to be rewarded with a new contract by Barcelona

Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has revealed the club are preparing a new deal to keep Lionel Messi at Camp Nou.
Messi
spacer.gif
still has four years to run on his current deal, but Barca are ready to reward the Argentine ace with a new improved contract.
The 25-year-old has established himself as the best player in the world since coming through the Barca ranks and he underlined his importance to the club with two late goals to help them come from behind to beat Spartak Moscow
spacer.gif
in the UEFA Champions League.
spacer.gif

Rosell feels the Catalan giants have a responsibility to look after Messi's interests, although he admits talks have yet to be scheduled
"It finishes in 2016, but it would be irresponsible to not improve his contract," Rosell told Catalunya Radio.
"You have to think about such things. Right now there is nothing scheduled, but this is a machine that is constantly in motion and things can change at any moment."

"It finishes in 2016, but it would be irresponsible to not improve his contract."
Sandro Rosell on Lionel Messi Quotes of the week
Rosell added: "The coaching staff think about next Sunday, we look further down the line and take the more distant future into consideration.
"Work has to start now on the contract that will take effect from 2016."

Rosell also refused to get involved in the debate surrounding Real Madrid's
spacer.gif
problems amid reports of dressing room unrest at the Bernabeu.
"The day you become preoccupied by other teams' matters is the day you start to lose," continued Rosell. "We need to remain a close group and work as such."
