Hi All,

Tried to fit an extra fan in my ipbox had to snip it to the exiting fan power supply lead as the white connector on the fan i brought was a block square type. i noticed on the ipbox 9000 it has a spare slot for another fan towards the front of the box. but the connectors are curved not normal pc fan connector types.

Are these curved white connectors got a name? or anyone got a link for a fan that would actually fit the connector block on the board?

or where i can get the following cooling fan from ?

Problem is not so in light cooling HDD. Box does not contain enough outcome holes for evacuate hot air from inside box value. General solution will be in install fan for blowing-out hot air from box. As in new Special Edition IPbox which already has this solution on the rear panel.

Hi I’m new to all this stuff so want to ask how much heat generate receiver if you need fan or it is standard cooling fan comes from factory. I jut afraid box will make some noise if it has any moving part I have ordered ipbox 900dh and hope it has passive cooling system, and it is sufficient.

I replaced the existing cheap&nasty fan with a good quality computer 12 volt type ball bearing fan, and fed it straight from the hard drives 12v feed. So when the HDD is on, so is the fan. Then I put a processor fan on and fed it from the existing fan supply socket. This is controlled from the menu, and it is on when required. The resulting air flow and fans make hardly any noise. LonelyRaven is right, there is not much ventilation for the hot air, but I find that leave 40mm above and to the sides and there is no problem. My cabinet has an open back, I have 5 more boxes and DVRs, so there is a good air flow for all.

Dear,
can you tell me what fan you are using to replace the old ipbox 9000 fan?
Its a 12v 0.8w fan, with a ball race (not a sleeve bearing). Its the same size as the original, 25x25x10mm. It will be obtainable from a local computer shop, or CPC, or similar suppliers, for about £6 - £7. Ive run it since Feb this year and had no problems.:)

Here is my fan you can use a cheaper one i all-ready had this fan from my old pc
http://www.aquatuning.co.uk/product....html/XTCsid/hvl7foh4q93sur2k4vdhhctua9h10mjd
Turns the fan on only When needed works great also have one on my db 800

how is it connected then ? Is it through the power lead? Old power lead goes into module and then into new fan ?

what temperature activates this module and is it adjustable ?
(cant find this info on maplin's web page)

I have modded the main 12volt feed
Gives more Currant.
The fan port should still work But the device may not get the needed currant.

The device Has adjustable sensitivity up to 50c great for this project as the box would not get up to 50c

Mine kicks in at around 35c at full speed and it seems to kick in at a slower speed at around 30c.

also please remember this is a kit.
It comes in kit form however it is very easy to build..
Maplins may have a Built version some ware. but i couldn't see it......:thum:
