iCAM support for Dreambox 920UHD using Merlin?

Hi,

My father currently uses the Gemini software and I iCAM but I don't know if it is slow or what it is but the channels freeze a lot when watching.
I watch some videos of people with the same box as my father watching. Sky Deutschland using iCAM and Merlin, do you think it will work better?
If Merlin does not work any better what would you recommend using instead (if possible)?

You don't say what cam you are using but maybe before you decide to change the image your could try update the cam, you could even try ncam

My father is using iCAM (I think it is called "Nobody Cam Feed" or similar). If I try Ncam do I need to change anything else if it already is setup for Oscam/iCAM?

If you choose ncam all you should have to do is enter your father's server line into ncam. server. Make sure the cam is running, then the easiest way to do this is to find the box's ip address which can be found under network in the boxes menu system. It will be something like 192.168.0.10. Enter this address into a computers browser on the same network. The sat boxes webif should come up. Bottom left hand side it should say ncam. Click on it and it opens the ncam cam page. On the top row there are a number of boxes click on the box that says files and then ncam.server. Paste the server line in there and save. Restart the cam top right box i think and that should be it. It should work with the existing channel list.

If its available from that cam freed then yes. Other options are install it via ipk. I do this via sending the ipk to the tmp folder on the box and installing via the ipk installer on the box. Other option is install a panel like dreamsat panel and that has all the latest cams in it. If you know how to use dreambox contol center and telnet you can just copy this link of text and press return. It will install a new panel in your menu system.

Now only problem is I have no ncam.server file, is there a tutorial or something on how to create these so I can insert the server line?

when you went into the webif did you click on files then ncam.server you can copy your server files into there. Save it and restart the cam. You should also be able to create on just use notepad and copy your oscam server settings into note pad then save it as ncam.server I think this his how its done.

That explains it. Do you know where I can get a example file of the ncam.server so I can fill in everything myself?

In your current set up do you currently use oscam to clear the german channels if so just copy the contents of your oscam.server file. Hopefully there is an example attached but when i edited it note pad it save as a txt file. But it does give an example.

Thank you I will test it tomorrow. Oscam is used but no German channels open.

In the first post i said that you have the channels open but they will slow and glitching. If that's not the case then there is more to be done. You need a special channel list that has the icam channels listed. Can you confirm if you have had the channels opening at all even if slow.

German Sky does not open at all and I got a problem with some regular channels glitching and freezing as well. I just wanted the best way possible (with the least freeze/glitch). I have no special icam channel list as far as I know, would it say it somehow in the "oscam.server" file you think?

Ah well there is a bit of work to do. The German channels will not open without a server that can open them and a special channel list. The German channels are running icam which need the channel list as the cam needs extra time to decrypt channels. I runs a bit like IPTV but decrypts internally. So selecting the channel from a normal channel list will not clear.

So I need a separate channel list for German channels, I did not know that. Do I get this channel list from the "service provider" or this is something I can do myself? This list is not under normal sat-channels?
Maybe stupid questions, sorry if it is.

On my receiver if i press the ok button to bring up the channel menu then press blue it takes you into bouquets and it that list is the sky germany icam channels. I can advise you how to get these and where from Do you know how to use dreambox control centre and how to ftp and telnet into the box?

I don't know if this is any good for you but there is a back up image of openatv that i found on another forum. This is from L##uxsat forum made by piterfree and it seems to have all the cams pre installed. I don't know how well you know how to set your box up.
