They are already mpeg inside the TRP container.

You have to demultiplex audio and video and multiplex it into mpeg.
But all depend on where you want to play them or how you want to store it.
You can use programs like tsremux or tsdemuxer.

You can use Auto Gordian Knot for converting and Tssplitter for joining .ts files. Both programs are free.

What are you trying to convert them to?
All depend on where you want them to play them or store it.
If you use tsremux and make a TS file,it will play most in any player.
In the other hand, the reasons to convert an HD file to something not HD,defeat the purpose of buying and HD receiver and a HDTV set.
The whole idea about recording HD programs is to be able to store them as is in a hard drive, the receiver will play it back in its original format.
Nowadays, the cheap cost of 1 terabyte hard drive for storage allow you to store big files easily, and preserving the original format, with minimal investment.

Hi, I use MpegStreamclip (http://www.squared5.com) to convert my trp-files to mpeg-files.
There is few other fileformats You can use. Check Yourself, mate!!

Use Apple QuickTime 7 free player (http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html) with MpegStreamclip, because this combination works better. At lest for me :)

I do this convert because I want to edit (cut unwanted parts) and have not found any trp-editor for doing that.
I use "DVDVideosoft Free VideoDup" (http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dvd/Free-Video-Dub.htm) for cutting my mpeg-files.

I hope that these links will help You.

Hi friends,
I have simmilar problem - I record HD stream when I have to work or so and want to watch it later on. There is no problem. But if I want to take the material and play it somewhere else (for example on projector in other room) or on Popcorn Hour C-200, it does not recognise .TRP (+001, 002 etc).
So looking for best workflow how to convert the recorded stream in something, what I can play via Popcorn without loosing quality. Popcorn simply does not open Vantege .TRP (just buffering for hours). I would be able to take the whole STB and move it somewhere else, but I use external disk drive, another power supply and I would have to disconnect all the cables..
Popcorn is easier to move - just unplug HDMI and power cable and that´s it. Best way would be just grab the external disk drive and plug it somewhere else to play it, but ... no in Popcorn and in the PC I was able to see something only using KM Player and even on quite powerfull PC it does not react very well on commands.
