Fixed dish to motorised dish... how easy would it be?

Hi all,

I currently have a fixed 80cm dish pointing at 9E, however - my favourite channel has now moved to 24.5W... Therefore I need to upgrade my fixed setup to a motorised set up to allow me to get this channel once again.

I have phoned all my local dish installers and nobody seems to want to touch motorised set ups! Does anybody know anyone that would be able to do this work in the Essex/East London area?

If not, how easy would it be to make this change myself?

Thanks,

Rob

They don't want to touch them because they are time consuming to set up and the call back rate to fix problems is high.

Also inexperienced users try to tweak them to get more gain and end up losing the arc at one end or the other, do it your self, it will waste a lot of time at first but you'll get the hang of it and not need an installer every 10 minutes.

Its not as hard as you may think, but will take patience.
ANy installer who wont touch motorised set up is not a satellite instaler but a sky dish installer.

Hello, you can install motor system by your self. Just use USALS, its easy to install. I have made it couple of times. And just returned back to looking satellitetv after 6 years. Fixing motorsystem needs time and you need to adjust it couple of times. But after its ok, no need to fix nothing :)

If the channels that you are after have moved to 24.5W, and you are not intrested in other channels, you can simply reallign your fixed dish to the new satellite at 24.5W.

Otherwise you have the option of going through the learning phase and instALL a motorized system as suggested by all the friends above.
Be warned, to fix a motorized system, you need to be patient and stubborn .
