Does System and channel back-up work in this version??

Yes it does - but you need to format the USB / E-SATA device from your Vantage-receiver first, then a few folders are created among them one called "Media" where the Backup-files are stored.

I have seen some report saying that you only need to create a new directory on your external device named "Media" to get it to work - but I didn't try that myself.

I do not think so.
It says writing to media, but there is nothing on the USB stick.

it works good enough!
only problem i have is whenever i scan channels and i have previusly been watching a program stored on favourite then when i exit menu i the reciever goes and a channels not in the favourite list!
