Dreambox Utils for Linux

I've been away from the sat scene for a while. I have a Dreambox 7020 using Gemini 4.2 and multibooting a couple of images on a USB
stick.

I dual boot Linux and Windows, but today thought I'd test which Dreambox Utils run ok from linux (using wine).

I have found DreamboxEdit 3.0 runs perfectly (using Ubunto 10.10)
Bouquets can be successfully downloaded and uploaded to the dreambox.

Flashwizrd Pro 6.3 Also tested and works (have deleted an old image on the USB stick) without any problems. Have not yet tried flashing a new image, but as the network has been detected, I dont think there will be any problems flashing a new image.

Can anyone else comment on Dreambox Tools that work from a linux OS.

It's a little bit insulting for linux native users, not to have a linux native editor for a linux native satellite receiver. In my machine, wine screws it from time to time, I can't trust it.
I can't understand why the developers haven't already compiled a linux rpm or deb, or just the tarball. Don't they use linux? Is linux good just for the receivers?

Hi Jimmy , I agree with you. I wish there were some native linux applications wrote for the dreambox.

I use Ubuntu 10.10 on my laptop and PCLinux 2011.6 on my desktop.
Wine works perfectly with FlashWizrdPro and DreamEdit, no problems.

Thanks for the info, hal8000m, appreciate it. I use vmware and a black minimal windo version through my opensuse pc, to do such jobs (with dreamedit). I refuse to buy and install any copy of copyrighted os.
