Digital+ teams up with Cisco

The Spanish pay-TV platform Digital+ has entered into a strategic alliance with Cisco to develop its next generation decoder iPlus.

The decoder currently has a large hard disk capacity and also allows viewers to receive both HD and 3D services.

It is already used in over 400,000 of 1,800,000 households that subscribe to Digital+, with 81% of respondents in a survey say it has changed the way they view TV.

Commenting on the alliance, Prisa CEO Pedro Garcia Guillen said it is “a strategic partnership in the process of our digital transformation. We continue to develop the production of our iPlus with the provision of finance and technology leader. And from the standpoint of service to our customers allows us to fulfill the commitment to offer the best content with the latest technology.”

Santiago Lopez, director of Cisco España’s Service Providers division, added that “”collaboration between Cisco and PRISA will allow TV platforms to evolve by integrating new content, new ways to access content and new capabilities for the choice the user”
