Solomend 800HD pvr / Openbox S9 pvr / Skybox S9 pvr
I have just got my hands on a couple of these boxes. In my opinion they will replace the DM800 as the cheapest way to get HD premium channels. These boxes are bigger than the dm800 they do the same things as the dm800 the picture quality is as good picel wise but they dont suffer from weak tuners and they run cold not like the dm800 toaster. they are a hell of a lot cheaper to get £100-120 the downsides are the menus look like cheap freeview box menus but they work ok. they run cccam and mgcam aswell. as this box is a linux based box once the big boys like "Dream Elite" and "Sif Team" and all the other good linux based programmer get to grips with these boxes they will wipe the floor with the dm800's. you can connect a external hard drive to record or use a big pen drive to do the same. I for one will be moving my dm500 out for these boxes from now on. It is worth a google for the info on these boxes. we have them running cccam now and it is very stable with the latest firmware that is out. and it has a proper HDMI socket not the DVI like the dm800. If anybody else has one of these boxes let me know what you think of them. It is a cheap as chips box with no bells and whistles at the moment but if you can get past the cheap and tacky menus you will be very happy with the picture quality.

sh 4 recivers

Hi everybody
I have a xcruiser 400hd, it is clone of octagon sf1008, atevio av700, hd box 9510 and...
They are new sh4 serie recivers and as you said they support cccam, newcamd, mgcamd, etc.
They are very fast and easy to use and very cheap with good price. They can changed to eatch other to use other brand's firmwares. They have very strong support by octagon and aaf gorups, and have very up to date firmwares, also they have very easy and user friendly programs.
But they are not very professional and designed for normal use.
I have wide information about them, if anybody wants.

A little help setting up this box for sky uk.

Use the link to download the latest firmware todate 8th Aug 2010 get a usb pen drive format it fat32 loaded the HDS2_DUMP.abs onto it. place in the box at the back via the usb port.go into the menu and update the firmware via usb. this will give you the latest firmware and a good freind Breed has dun us all a favour and sorted the channels into favourites and removed the tiresome channels that can cause us a bit of problem. if you use your own channels some sky sports channels cause a reboot loop. the quickest way to fix is pull the sat wire out reboot change channel then remove it from your fav's. pick another sky sports channels as there are normally doubles of every sky sports channels.

Interesting box and I have a couple of questions which could help decide if the box is a winner or not.

1) Does the box only support CCcam client or can it be a server?

2) How is the EPG support? Can the EPG download from the internet like DM800 or is it only now an next which is shown after the channel is selected?

Looking forward to the reply!

At the moment the box only runs as a client and the epg is now and next only but the box runs on linux so someone will eventually make a working 7 day epg. but at these prices what do you want m8.

yeah I agree the price is a steel compared to the DM800 and I guess being a client for CCcam is ok but the EPG is a near must have for me.

I wouldn't have thought getting a working EPG would be a big issue especially as rytec already has the servers where the epg file could be downloaded and converted to match whatever format the box reads.

@Data... could you also tell me if you can telnet into the box or FTP to it? As you say its linux so it should be possible.

It will be possible in the future but not at this moment.
these boxes are at the stage that the first dm500 was when it first hit the market. so plenty of scope for development.

I have just purchased a Spiderbox 7000HD and in my oppinion the best box ever Supports cccam upto 10 servers at a time (at this point i am logged on to 3 with over 1100 cards between them)and ncamd and also acts as a server. I have no problem getting any encrypted channel.

Nobody is saying the spiderbox is not better than the solomend/openbox but it is twice the price for very little extra m8. no decent epg on the spider boxes m8. so you are willing to pay £80 plus for a box that does nothing better. I think not. I have the spiderbox 9000 but I dont think it is the bees knees. it is ok at what it does that is all I am saying.

I agree with most of what you say, But the thing that makes it good for me is the ease of use and needing no knowledge of linux or the hassle of ftp. All i'm saying is that the spider has an awfull lot for its price compared to the dream and other so called linux boxes. It is just my oppinion not a pop at the cheaper boxes.
