ASH on display using usb adapter

I have a problem which isn't being replied to in the correct section. I have bought several boxes, EL 3020 ir plus but some people have new laptops which don't have the rs232 cable so I am trying to use a USB to rs232 adaptor and am now getting a target connect error with ASH shown on the display.

I can use my older laptop with the rs232 cable and it works fine and the message disappears. I've downloaded the patch for the ON/ASH problem but it still does the same.

Port settings, baud rate etc etc are correct and match the alimupg55 program settings. I'm hoping this is a more common problem with these USB adaptors and not specific to these boxes which is why I'm asking here as it might affect other boxes too.

Can anyone help.

TIA

I can't believe it is a hardware problem when it works fine with the normal cable and the USB adaptor shouldn't change anything but something is making the display show the ASH message.

Help!

I have the same ASH problem on my laptop with VISTA. Supprisingly, I have been using this same laptop and USB to Serial converter for the past 8months or so. I read in one of the forums that it might be a windows problem. Can somebody PLEASE help:confused:

Hi
little bug may inform Pc on work
be sure your Pc don't have any Virus inside Scan your Pc
defg your hard disk when you do update to Stb
be sure your Pc not busy in anything else don't open any Expl. or any other program
Everytime you wanna start an update do restart your Pc
if ASH apear turn off Stb unplug the converter and restart the Pc than plug the converter and start again it work for me

PS: if you don't wanna waste your time Keep your Stb on whatever software you have and just upgrade the Card
by insert in any receiver with latest software ( to any friend have receiver with Abra too )it will do Kv /Sv update than put in your Stb it will work
