We took to be true the story of viark processor unable to manage the new upgrade, but it's really possible it's a productor specific choice not to allow the further patch to not disturb one of the most powerful provider in Europe: Sly-DE.
A precaution to prevent possible sales problem in Europe market for viark brand: issue of not interest for other brands that as you said correctly are not intended for the European market.

I very much doubt it, the boxes are sold as FTA and it's not as if Sky DE is the only european provider / package that could be opened on it.

Yes but with difference many providers was already open by centuries

It seems the same story lived with dreambox many years ago.
It was a pioneering in opening provider with emu, and retired the old glorious Humax 5400, opening the cs issue.
But with years, nothing more...
It remains a fantastic box (for some things), but on open channel issue

has been totally outclassed by this new kind of boxes.
None is worried about that, producers are satisfied with their small European vegetable patch.
To not speal about the usal issues on Abertis 30°W, T2-MI manage and so on...

When you want to get a market you do wonderful thing, but with time you get confortable and careful to not step on important toes

Im hesitating what box to buy
What is for you actually best buy now if we are watchnig sky de,sky it,sky uk chanell situation(icam chanles,software of box,gui etc..)
Would like to go with Starsat SR200hd Extreme,but i would like to hear your opinion

Nobody knows how long icam hack last, just wait.
if they offer sky it, in my opinion all icam is going down.

The important thing is the manufacturer, not the chip..

There are different models with chips
ALI2661 S2/S2X
ALI2662 S2/S2x/T2/C2

i have the following Starsat SR-T14 Extreme / SR 2020HD. Can anyone confirm the chip sets for these models and is it possible to open Sky De as not working for me.

GTMEDIA V8X is NOT compatible for Sky De or iCAM and sadly will not work .
only GTMEDIA V8 UHD Satellite Receiver works ..Fact !!
