saludos

isenguard was talking about sensitivity...
I think he meant about weak signals or very high/very low SR values too, like 28E North transponders in South of Europe :)

Of course catching Hispasat, Astra or Hot Bird there's no issues...

exactly [0_o]

sats like Astra 2D and/or Nilesat are always difficult to get (depending on the location)....if u are in germany for example all receivers will receive all channels of Astra 19,2, HB and those satellites that are beamed for Europe.

Only receivers with really good tuners will give u signal on weak sats like Astra 2D and Nilesat and have picture without breaks.

I hope Solo2 tuner belongs to these " good " tuners :)

it has scanned and found more channels, than we found when a scan was made a few minutes before with the same satellite dish and lnb when it was connected to a Vu+ Uno. The Solo2 also has a higher SNR (signal) than the Uno displayed

this quote is taken from the BH review
http://www.sat-universe.com/showthread.php?t=244348

this could be a good indicator about the quality of the tuner...but sure it is too early to say that and definitely seeing is believing :)

Solo2 is faster than Dm7020HD, Uno and Ultimo,
Solo2 of EV0 is the end product. One of the first unit of mass production.
You can see that it is not downclocked.
CPU clock is set to 1.3 GHz
and are BogoMips

Processor0 = 869.37 bogomips
Processor1 = 651.26 bogomips
Total = 1520 bogomips
This is about 195% faster than Dm7020HD, Uno and Ultimo to the max 800 bogomips. what is the explanation bogomips bogomips the measurements provided by the operating system Linux, which indicates relatively, as soon działa.Program computer processor, which provides a measurement called bogomips. You forget to say that info comes from BH forum!!

Real independent user feedback is more valuable than the "review" from the Black Hole forum which is basically a paid for promotional advert for Vu+ rather than any critical appraisal of the receiver.

I would be interested to know how well the Solo2 handles media file types. For example, can it play WMV video files and FLAC audio files.

I think that the Solo2 may be rushed to market given that the media transcoding function which featured heavily in the promotional material is not currently functional.

the real users would discover different problems and will tell us really different level of info ( am waiting to read these reviews before buying my Solo2)

what s important for me is the tuner sensitivity, picture quality and CCcam stability :)...for media files and these things DLNA is doing a good job :)

sorry lads,
is the vu+solo2 a sat box or a media player?
i thought it was a sat box????????

i said the same here
http://www.sat-universe.com/showpost.php?p=982885&postcount=58

receiver should do what a receiver should do ..i.e. sensitive tuner, blind scan, stable performance with CCCam, and good PQ in SD and HD. and good recording function.

the media player function and these extra things are important for many users but for me i dont care for this :)

My TV plays almost all the formats i use without problems with DLNA :)

Given that there is no problems whatsover with the Gigablue Quad with softcams then I would not anticpate any issue whatsoever with softcams with the Solo2. The tuner issues with the Uno and Ultimo with certain transponders was resolved eventually by Vu with an FPGA upgrade so I would imagine that the Solo2 tuners will have been well tested prior to release to ensure that there no similar problem with the Solo2 on launch.

I am looking at the Solo2 with a view to upgrade from a Duo but I am not seeing what the new additional processor speed is going to give me at present over the Duo other than a faster booting box which is not especially relevant to a Tv viewer. I would be interested in hearing the opinions of Duo owners who have upgraded to the Solo2.

I think that it may be some time before the potential of the Solo2 is fully unleashed.

I see that new drivers have been released for the Solo2 with the following information

New drivers: 20121217
- Fix instability issue
- Fix PIP problem
- Fix module init problem.
- Support Transcoding(Beta)

The Blackhole image (1.7.9-2) for the Solo2 now supports transcoding to an Ipad both within an internal network and externally. This transcoding feature could potentially be very useful for when you are out and about if the video playback is good quality and smooth on the Ipad.

I'd be very interested to hear any owners opinions of the Solo2.

Yes, it supports OE2.0 images. But remember if you wanna use BH image, they use OE1.6.

But you have many more images using OE2.0 like OpenPLI, VIX, etc...
