Upload and Install latest images

Hi,

One week in and still struggling a bit. I acquired my QBox HD with image 1.0.16 pre-installed. How can I tell which version I have??

I've tried updating to V0.0.5 via USB stick and using the QBox HD Updater, both without success. The Updater finds the latest boot loader ".qhu" and installs that correctly but fails to find my latest distribution image. I've tried leaving the .tgz file as is, also unzipping and leaving a .tar file and also doing a full extract with the qbox_update folder. The updater simply doesn't find a file even when given the correct paths.

Trying a USB upgrade, I've freshly formatted a 4GB stick with FAT32, extracted and placed the qbox_update folder in the root of the stick, but on rebooting the STB, nothing happens.

Where am I going wrong??

Is it possible to upload and install an image directly from within the STB as one can do with plugins?? How?

Does anyone know a source of thin USB sticks to replace the internal one?? Mine seems to be 46% full and I'm sure an extra few Gigs might help??

I think I need the latest image as yesterday I started getting green screens. I FTPed an .avi file across to my hard disk (within a sub-folder) and the tried to play it with the media player. A green screen followed about 5 seconds later. I then discovered that the Net Interface was disabled and upon trying to enable it again, I got the same (or similar) green screen. This evening, I'll clean my hard disk via my notebook but I'm fearing the worse, Any advice welcome.

Thanks in advance

Format the pink slim USB stick also to FAT32 and try again.

Fixed it

Tried a factory reset, no joy!

Downloaded the latest image from here and popped it on a newly formatted 4GB stick. This time I did a full format. The re-install succeeded :nana:

Uploaded my channels again via Dreamset and all seems OK, Even got my TV Settings menu back.

Still interested to hear if it's worthwhile upgrading the slim pink USB pen? I can get a 4GB one for around £11.

Cheers

You can change and 4GB is OK. All the sticks do not fit in there, it must be thin. They're pink, not very good.
I think that when You first upgraded then You were probably just a bad contact on USB slot and therefore could not update on first time.

USB Pen Drive

Hi,

We'll I've for one of these http://www......../pic_241435.htm locally for about ...... and will give it a go. I'm guessing that the installation will go quicker if I pre-format the stick in ext3?? This should be possible by popping it into my QNAP NAS?

Cheers
