You could try (googling then) downloading ultimatebootcd and burning it to disk.
Look over the facilities on the cd and try to identify what you need.
Then boot your laptop from the cd and fix the boot volume from one (of the many) applications.

If (in the worst case) you end up reformatting the hard drive then obtain a copy of 'recover my files', this will get a lot of your files back, though you would need to reinstall your operating system, and you would need a second hard drive to recover your lost files to.

sounds like the drive might be failing and the boot sector (track0) is damaged. Try to boot from the OEM windows CD and hit R for the repair concel. Hit one for you OS and hit the enter. You will be propmted for a password - if none the just hit enter. Next you will be looking at a DOS like prompt. Type in FIXBOOT and hit the enter key. answer Y for yes and when its finished type FIXMBR and hit the enter key. Answer Y for yes again and then reboot the computer. If it still does not finish loading then try to get into safe mode and dissable programs that you had just installed. If none of the stuff I suggested does not work then its time for a new HDD and fresh OS install. Just mount the old drive via USB adaptor and copy what you need over to the new OS.
