The Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has denied reports that the public broadcaster TVP will be privatised. However, at the same time he has said that TVP doesn’t offer a service of the “highest quality.” Earlier reports in the Polish press had suggested that one of TVP’s two national channels would be sold off and the second no longer allowed to carry commercials, reverting strictly to a public service remit. The third, TVP Info, would meanwhile be scrapped and replaced by local programming. There has been a big question mark over the Polish government’s plans for TVP ever since it took office late last year.
