I record a lot of programs on the usb at the back of the receiver. Usually, the most recent program gets put to the top but yesterday I found that the whole file list has gone alphabetically. I don’t know if I pressed a button by mistake. Does anyone know how to reverse this?
Thank you.

Yes.
Go into the Disk Manager Menu
Then go to your folder or list of recordings
Then press the record button on your remote - It will give you a list of sorting options.
Choose to sort by date, ascending or descending, time, whatever option suits you.

Hope this helps, let me know how you get on.

Hello, i have tried your advice. When I go into disk manager, it only shows that I am recording to usb but no folder or list of recordings show. It also wouldn’t accept me pressing anything. The only time on this machine it gives me a list of recordings is when I go directly into file list (button on the remote) and I can fiddle to get a list of the recordings but I can’t sort them. I tried moving one individually but even that moved back to the place it was in before I tried. I’ve done this on several days now, thinking it might get better but no. I can’t think of what else to try.e

OK. Hopefully, we can still help.

Can you tell us what version of the 5402 you have please....what does it say on the front of the receiver?

Thanks.

Right. Not much vision + magnifier = TM-5402 HD M3 CI Super+
I hope that makes any sense to you 😢
That's fine. You have an M3.

Just as a step by step. Can you do the following and let me know what you see and what happens...

1. Go to the Main Menu
2. Go to the USB Menu
3. Go to the File Manager Menu

Now please tell us what happens to your list of files?

Hello Aster,

Based on the most recent posts from Manic01 and Barney115 could you try the following steps please...

1. Unplug or switch your M3 receiver off and on again.
2. Remove the usb stick, then re-insert again.
3. Go to any channel with a signal and record for a minute or two. Doesn't matter what the program is...
4. Then go to Main menu, USB Menu, then your list of files via File Manager.

I am hoping that following these steps will result in you seeing your most recent test (2min) recording
appearing at the top the list of recordings and thus your files again sorted by date most recent working
again.

I hope this does help.

1. Main menu (tabs with installation, system settings, edit channels etc appear
2. went down to usb/external devices then
3. Move over to usb up/down file manager
as far as I can make it out the following list appears
- scan disk/secure access
- (records)
-back up your files to the cloud.pdf
- poss. Scan disk secure access, a number and _win.exe
- TimerEventName.xxx something I can’t make out

TimerEventName is when you record via EPG and set a timer to record a specific program on EPG
- (records) is likely the folder created for your Recordings

you likely can ignore - - scan disk/secure access , TimerEventName and back up your files to the cloud.pdf
at least now you have figured out where your recordings are found so now you can do a Test recording as suggested .
good luck : )

Will try the switch off etc. It will take a while as when I switch off, all channels disappear and I have to do a factory reset, with epg likely to disappear again. I wonder, if the unit is now sooooo old that it does things without my knowledge. Will be back later…….if nothing else crops up. Thanks so far for the advice.

Hooray! Switching off and reloading seemed to have done the trick. Long may it continue! You don’t sometimes think of the simple thing to do since I was convinced that my paws pressed an up or down arrow and therefore done something I shouldn’t have.
Thanks so much everyone.
