Subtitle plugin for SifTeam-1.9.4C?

I've tried the four subtitle plugins I can find in the feed, but none are working. My problem is that when choosing subs via the ordinary teletext, the letters appear in some sort of ligt grey colour, and they're really hard to read, as there's no outline or background.

Any help will be highly welcome. Editing of files (if possibile) is maybe another way to go, but if so; which files..?
